Brief story here. Didn't look like an interesting game before, but now I'm intrigued. Quasi Random question; Did Castle of Wolfenstein sell well in Germany?

Castle Wolfenstein and all the other Wolfenstein games have been banned in Germany. Something about Nazis I think.

i just read that article, and that is the dumbest reason ever to ban a game.

if i was a higher up at Eidos, i would make an even more offensive game...like one where you're a member of the gestapo and your mission is to round up as many Jews as possible...or a game where you run a sweatshop and you get to shoot anyone who asks for a bathroom break. i dunno, anything to piss people off.

The display of nazi symbols (eg swastikas) is prohibited by german law except for educational purposes and ant-nazi-stuff (eg "Nazis raus" sticker/patches). Commercial use is a big NO GO. I cant remember if Wolfenstein was for sale over here, but Hitman 2 is for sale to people over 18...
A huge problem (at least for me loving FPS) is green blood and robo-textures... In other words: Games are changed so you dont frag people. I usually buy my games outside germany or download a "bloodpatch" to get the game its meant to be wink

Lots of different versions of the same story floating around the UK. This is the one I read:

If you got picky about every video game with violence in it, you'd be left with that fucking "snake" game on mobile phones. And possibly Bubble Bobble.

Ben whatever

Yeah, well, I've re-thought my statement. All that bubble-popping could be offensive, too symbolic of, um, something. And "snake" is quite obviously a giant hungry phallus.

So it's back to playing with whatever comes to hand I guess.

Wha? No....oh get your minds out of the gutter.

Funny how GTA 3 lets you kill random pedestrians, not just "terrorists" and no one thinks about pulling it. I mean sure some parents complain about it, but you don't see the stores listening. I mean they even have it at Wal-Mart, land of the edited CDs. Makes me wonder whether it's because GTA doesn't offend any specific groups more than others or the fact that it's one of the best-selling series of all time that keeps it around.

They should start banning really dangerous stuff, like that Ricky Martin song Livin' La Vida Loca. It encourages teen suicide with lyrics like "she'll take away your pain like a bullet to the brain." I dunno about you, Mister Latino Tightpants, but I think that having pieces of metal in my head would CAUSE more pain that it would REMOVE considering my brain DOESN'T HURT RIGHT NOW.

Hitman 2 was great, I still think Grand Theft Auto: Vice City beats all games though.

I agree about Vice City. Nothing beats blasting Hall and Oats while reinventing mayhem with Apache's
