a while ago i touted the fantasticness of my new electric toothbrush. some of you poked fun, some of you had warnings of gum recession, some of you knew exactly what i was talking about. well today, i went to the dentist for a cleaning after a little over a year of remiss. not only did i not have any cavities, but i didn't even have any plaque build up--he didn't have to bust out the scraper-thingy, and he told me i only have to come in once a year. hooray for the electric toothbrush! hooray for good dental hygiene!! biggrin

Damn, I was hoping beatrice was going to tell us all about her using an electric toothbrush for something 4 out of 5 dentists don't recommend.

I tried an electric toothbrush for a while. I could never get used to it.

Despite what anyone tells you, my electric toothbrush is the reason I buy batteries in bulk. love

does this make sense? i went to the dentist after not going for a looong time. and he did x-rays and all that.... turns out i need a deep cleaning. BUT i have zero cavities, & zero plaque build up also.

well im chicken to get one of those cleanings.. sooo.. what kind of toothbrush is it? whatever biggrin

(whats the scraper thingy?) does it scrape under the gumline too?

sorry im a little paranoid & curious at the same time!

crest spinbrush
the scraper-thingy is that pick they use to scrape the plaque off your teeth and poke around for cavities. i can't imagine why you'd need a "deep cleaning" if you didn't have any plaque/tartar buildup. you should ask your dentist why it's necessary.

I bought an electric toothbrush in October. I'm never going back to a regular brush. This gets my teeth so much cleaner.

I have the Crest brush too. smile

You could get a second opinion. That stuff is pretty pricey.

listerine helps too. when i was a kid, going to the dentist was fine. i had 4 permanent teeth pulled with shots and i was totally cool & calm. now someone mentions deep cleaning and i get jittery. i guess its cuz i expected him to say i was free & clear.

nope. surreal

i'll move to britain and get this stuff done for free.
