So because everyone here who's single (or even some who aren't for that matter) seem to be whinning about Valentine's day, I just wanted to share with you my thought on it.

The way I've always celebrated it is that you show your love to the people you love the most, not just your lover, your family, your friends, your cat or dog...My mother would sometimes get me a bouquet of roses or a small present for Valentine's day, I used to also get roses for my best friends, my sister and my parents.

As my bf lives in a whole other country and I might not even have spent valentine's day with him had he been here, I will be spending my Valentine's evening with my friends from the jitsu club and bought candied apples for my favorite members...

Have a great valentine's day everyone....smile

Let's try to remember to keep the Christ in Valentines day. This over commecialization of the celebration of Jesus' first date is just sickening.

Isn't St. Valentines day about sending someone you admire an anonymous gesture of affection?

It seems to have been manipulated in favour of the people who make money out of it.

The way you celebrate it is good though. smile

anything that starts with "the true meaning of" is my least favorite ever.

The true meaning is an increase in 4th quarter profits for Hallmark and the floral industry. Just in time more the new fiscal year too! Now if that's not romance I don't know what is.

That doesn't make the holiday itself less commercial. Random displays of affection are far superior anyways.

St. valentine secretly marries christians untill he was martyred in Rome by way of a savage beating and a beheading as the coup de' grace.

i think the people who whine are keeping the true spirit of VDay alive.

and i, too, am just sayin'.

According to the History Channel, the origins of Valentine's are "shrouded in mystery" and involve UFOs and possible Oswald.

Personally I don't know why anyone would celebrate a stupid day like February 14th.

On vday you should not give anyone anything. In fact, walk around scowling. I'm off to find a pretty lady, then I'm going to jab pins in her. That'll show those hallmark bastards.

Heh heh.

Interesting to note that 'officially' it doesn't even exist anymore, as St. Valentine was one of the more dubious saints chucked aside by the Vatican a couple of years ago.
