Any time I hear about testing on lab rats, I immediatly start thinking of 'Flowers for Algernon"

Does anyone else remember that book? or its accompanying movie "Charly"?

Sorry. 7th grade made me do it.

I am skeptical.

So, how different is mouse cancer from human cancer?

How long will it be before "they" work out how to apply this to humans, get through the testing regs, get through testing, get approval, and go into production?

Treatments are great, but we already know how to prevent many cancers and yet chose to ignore those risks.

Most melanoma is caused by exposure to the sun. Many English people don't think that skin cancer is that serious. You often see them with horrific sun burn. whatever (And a can of lager, kicking a spanish police horse)

why cant we get these hybrid HIV cells to attack other REAL HIV cells? as in, ones without the different coating and all that? i mean really...

Viruses aren't cells. And that's not just semanitcs, viruses attack cells, not other viruses.

I guess she'll die"

BTW, Flowers for Algernon was a novel, not a short story.

Science scares me. I don't need to know how my pants work. Just sell them to me at bargain basement prices and I'll appreciate them in my own little way.

I'm not very informed when it comes to this subject so correct me if I'm wrong but this sounds comparable to the malaria and sickle cell anemia relationship that's going on in Africa right now. If you have a mild case of sickle cell anemia which you can survive it keeps you from getting infected with malaria or something like that.

This sounds like our one hybrid version of that.

It is a novela

novella. But, to be fair, it was originally a short story that was expanded.

at least it's sort of a start... i don't know how a doctor is going to ask a patient to inject HIV to fight cancer, though

it's the same way they do it for most viruses. they inject you with dead/impotent polio to get rid of polio. they inject you with wearkened flu to fight flu. it's just the way they do these things.

haven't they gotten anywhere with those supposed Super-Whores in taiwan? The girls that got hiv and aids, but for some reason never got sick. just kept on being prostitutes that are 'resistant' to aids. Ho-Ray for super-whores.
