WHen I worked in a retail lingerie chain, after Xmas we'd get zillions of customers trying to return panties, thong teddies etc.( In case people dont know, in Canada thats against health regulations and is clearly posted at every register and on the receipt). Anyone wanna make a guess of how many DIRTY, USED pieces of intimate wear were thrown at us?
I think I might choose the egg McMuffin.. at least I know where its been. shocked

having worked in fast food and restaurants, I have learned to treat the staff as politely as possible. I never complain about the food, and NEVER send food back. I don't want to be dining on some passive aggressive person's bodily fluids. even at McDonalds. be nice, so someone who comes along later isn't eating snot on their big mac. hopefully you won't be paying for some other asshole who decide to return his hamburger projectile style by getting the extra, extra special sauce. puke

Y'see, it's fine if you return the burger when it's made wrong. They'll replace it for free -- sometimes they'll even do that if the fries are cold, get you some fresh ones.

Just ... don't get that damned upset about a $3 cheeseburger. If you're that tense and highly strung, you probably shouldn't be eating fast-food anyway . tongue

(For clarification: I'm talkin' about the theoretical 'you.' Not, well, you.)

Yea, if you're upset with your order then let the person know. It's just, you can get your point across without turning into a fucking simian and flinging shit everywhere.

I definately agree everyone should have to work in service for a year, I've done over a year at Tim Hortons and over a year at Foot Locker, so I got to experience the worst of humanity at different levels. When people go to fast food chains they get pissed off royally if their order is wrong of if it takes longer than 17 seconds. At retail stores people have a different kind of pissed off because it usually involves money. Being a trained social worker was definately an advantage at Foot Locker because I could talk people down. It honestly probably gave me experience as a hostage negotiator.

The point is the people working at those places really don't want to be there, and chances are they've been shit on all day already (for minium wage) so just try to be the person where afterward they can smile and comment to each other how nice you were, instead of the asshole that ruined their weekend.
