Quentin Tarantino has directed an episode of ER and has had a recurring role on Alias. Now, the Kill Bill director has his sights on directing the number one television show in the land:CSI: Las Vegas.

George Eads (Nick Stokes) revealed during the SAG awards that Tarantino might do an upcoming CSI episode to the syndicated news magazine Extra. No specifics are available yet, and it's not known for which episode Tarantino would be sitting in the director's chair.

Does this officially mean that CSI has jumped the shark? Didn't ER go to shit after Tarantino directed?

I read this earlier and was interested.

I think CSI jumped when Grissom grew a beard. They still can bust out a good episode every now and then. I am intrigued to see how Tarantino does it, but most likely it'll be just like any other CSI, without that trademark Tarantino flair.

I can't stand all these forensics shows. There isn't a damned thing on TV anymore that doesn't involve investigators, interior design-remodels- fabrication or some form of people ingesting something disgusting.

Then stop watching the thing. No one's forcing you to.

Well, if you're going to go that route, he's been ripping off Brian De Palma, Martin Scorcese and blaxploitation films in general for a long time before he moved to Kill Bill. But honestly, he's clearly brought his own thing to it - you could tell that all of his movies are Tarantino movies and not anyone else's, so I don't see the problem. Obviously other people's milage may vary, but I don't see any need to knock him for taking things from other people's movies. I've never really had a problem with his editing, so I don't know what that's in reference to, but editing can be a pretty subjective thing.

Anyway. I remember watching the ER episode, and while it was good, (as I recall - I loved ER in those days) it wasn't really noticably different to me. I mean, ER was known for long takes that went across the entire set, which is something Tarantino does. It was the same writing and all that, so it wound up coming across the same way ultimately. I'd imagine something similar would happen here.

Tarantino's been ripping off japanese and hong kong martial arts films, sure, but they ripped off old westerns just as much. Tarantino's not terribly subtle about his influences, but everyone else is doing the same thing, they're just quieter about it.

First off: Great artists steal.

Second off: CSI is quite possibly the most pathetically horrid show ever created. Why the hell should anyone care about this?

Unrealistic gunplay director does unrealistic crime scene investigation show.

Yawn.

(but, ok, I'll admit it. His flicks are fun.)

Well given the options, I'd say forensics sounds pretty good.
It does get old, but not when you watch about an hour of tv every 2 weeks. That's the secret.

Wait so he's being called "The Kill Bill Guy"...

Umm....

What about the other works of art Tarantino has written, directed, and produced?

I think he deserves a little more respect.

CSI is a dumbed down, adult version of mister wizard meet sherlock holmes made for people blind to plot holes, deaf to atrocious dialogue, and able to stomach some of the most useless characters to ever bungle their way though a fantasy "science lab". And the mood lighting in the courtroom scenes... I mean, come on now... this is the show that inspired Britney Spears to want to be a forensic scientist. Beh... whatever

Its popularity saddens me so much. So much.

While all this may be true, it's a helluva lot better than Brigette Neilson & Flavor Flav's "Strange Love", Ashlee Simpson, Celebrity Fitness, ANYTHING on VHI, E, or FOX.

Pickings are slim when you can't afford the HBO package with your already outrageous cable bill. I ain't payin' an extra $30 a month to get their documentaries, sorry.

Until the day comes that television content gets Overhauled (another "pathetic" show, I'm sure -- I know it's all quick fixes, but c'mon. The cars can look awful sexy), CSI and I are going to have a regularly scheduled, predictable romance.

I'd love to state, for the record, that I love Tarantino on American Idol. It was bizarre, odd, weird, and totally fuckin' awesome.

But, as far as CSI goes, I think he could do better.
