OLD SKOOL

Though I'm known for my thirst for the High Life...I do like a good wine from time to time. A few of my personal favorites are:

1. Francis Coppola 2002 Blue Label Merlot
2. Toscolo 1998 Classico Reserva Chianti
3. Wolf Blass 2001 Shiraz ( thanks, Twwly)
4. Columbia Winery 2000 Merlot
5. Turning Leaf 1999 Merlot

How about a wine for people who don't drink wine? Shiraz is like wine with lemon juice.

I don't get to drink wine as much as I like, and when I find one I like, I usually stick with it.

Though Coppola's 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon is very good. I love my Cabernet Sauvignon.

I'm not the biggest wine fan, but I recently had a few glasses of this and I fell in love with...I could drink bottle after bottle

Willowglen Old Tawney Port.
6$ for a bottle that compares favorably to 20$ ports I've had.
Also good for four bucks more is Clocktower, and it's much easier to find.

For those who don't know port, it's a strong, sweet red. A dessert wine that's bordering on being a liquer.

I like Yellow Tail's Shiraz/Cabernet blend, and my new favorite is Banfi's Centine. Fat Bastard Vinyards also have some good wines. Justin Vineyards Cabernet sucks hard core.

Oh, and Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon (I can't remember the vintage, it was 2002 or 2003, probably 2002.). Good, inexpensive Sotuh African wine.

Oh god. The first time I ever got drunk it was off of a box of wine just like that. Thanksgiving night. I was 14. I fell down the stairs and I got into the shower with all of my clothes on. I will never drink boxed wine again.

And for wine on the cheap that isn't very good but will hit you like a ton of bricks, go for Carlo Rossi. Only about 7 bucks a gallon!

new rule: no merlot, shiraz (or syrah), cab sauv, or pinot anything.

Mission Hill's Vidal Icewine is ridiculously tasty.

Summerhill's Chalice tastes like liquid apple crisp.

Lang's Foch and Pinot Meunier (whoops, broke my own rule) are tasty if you get a good bottle.

to break out of my okanagan wine obsession, Pieroth makes a decent Riesling... and hey, if the wine itself lets you down, at least it comes in a neat blue bottle.

not cuz it's specifically good but just because there's such a big hype around it every year...
