This is an art project that goes up this Saturday in Central Park. I love art, and i don't know if this will work. It has the potential to be nice I guess, but I hope they let me do my art project when I have a couple of million dollars to pay for it..

Good old Christo. Does anybody remember back when he had a mania for "wrapping" things?

That's... interesting.

i think i can think of cooler arches to put in to frame a path like that.
Looks a little too much like curtains for my liking...

I'd be more impressed if the artist did the work himself.

Isn't this the guy who wrapped an entire island in Miami in pink cloth? Yeah, it was pretty stupid.

christo and jean-claude are in my opinion, the most hacknied one-trick ponies of them all. they are also poo-poo heads, according to someone i knew who worked on a project for them.

I dunno, anyone who creates art that periodically kills people is alright in my book.

i guess that's why when my friend signed up to help them, the first thing they told her was NEVER bring up the island project in front of them.

Amen...taking a dump in a shoe-box and calling it "art" doesn't make it art. What's next...a picture of your sweetheart in a brandy snifter?

i believe it was "running fence" in CA, not the island project, where someone was killed.

i think the christos are great, but . . .

there's a fantastic documentary about the curtain they put across the canyone in CO, but i don't remember the name of it and i'm too lazy to look it up.

I was referring to The Umbrella project, where a woman was crushed by one of the umbrellas. Note to self: Never have a picnic under a huge umbrella during a windstorm.

The thing about immanent death syndrome is that the afflicted could literally go at any minute.

oh, i guess it was umbrellas and not running fence.

but yeah, people have died, and it would be silly to be killed by a giant umbrella thing for an art project.

I think that I'd much rather get crushed to death in an art project than die in a car wreck or in a war or somthing.
wink

I'd only want to be killed by art if it was art that I enjoyed and the death was interesting. For instance, I'd rather my obituary say:

"Man hacked to pieces by Francis Bacon canvas in freak cyclone"

than

"Man dies of lead poisoning from prolonged exposure to Robert Rauschenberg installation art."
