listen to the tedkoppel. he speaks the truth. i have the first hundred or so issues of hellblazer, i was really into it for a while. am i excited? not in the least. will he get ten percent of the character right? maybe. im more interested in if they get any part of the hellblazer universe right, including mood, or side characters...

oh, and i will be renting this on a two for one night in june. not in the theatre.

I saw it last week. I was definitely entertained! I've since found myself wanting to see it again. I didn't know it was based on a comic, so that puts aspects of the movie in a better perspective for me now.

Yea, shitty movies generally come out at this time of the year, but it wasn't shitty. Go see it when it comes out, it was good!

It's worse than we all expect. Mr. Gwen Stefani is in it.

Yea, his delivery is pretty puke worthy, but nothing's perfect. Besides, this is his, what, 2nd acting gig? I didn't see Little Black Book so I don't know how his "performance" was in that.

Tee hee.

Really though, it won't kill you to see it. If somebody is a big fan of the comics and such I can see why they would hold certain expectations, but bottom line: it didn't bomb, IMO.

Related to movies based on comics: what were some opinions on The Punisher?

I have a feeling that "Fire? I was born of this!" is going to be the new "Gordon's alive?"

From the good actor, terrible film thread.

Though it hasn't even some out yet, I'm going to go with Shia Laboeuf in Constantine.
Shia is, in my opinion at least, one of the most talented young actors in film, and he should not have signed on for this abortion of a Hellblazer adaptation. Besides, he shouldn't have even been cast as Chaz. Chaz is about as old as Constantine in the book, and Shia is around 18.

P.S. I want Keanu Reeves to die in the face.

I finally got to see this movie yesterday. And I thought it was awesome! The effects were great. And I think Keanu actually did a pretty good job. smile

Why do people rag on Keanu Reeves incessantly, as if to say that he’s the worst actor to ever grace the silver screen. Is he the best actor in the world? Far from it, but is he the worst? Well, I think I would have to say he’s equally far from that as well… he’s just there.

Not only that, because he’s just there, he’s virtually incapable of adding to or detracting from the overall quality of any picture he stars in. If you saw a movie, thought it sucked ass and blamed it on Keanu Reeves odds are it was a shitty movie to start with, not even golden boy Tom Hanks could have pulled out the big “W” (that’s Win, if you didn’t know). Inversely, no one saw The Matrix and thought it kicked ass solely due to his Oscar-worthy acting skills, you could have substituted in Stewart, the coffee-toting intern, for Keanu and it still would have been a great movie.

Some people make hating Keanu Reeves so fashionable, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “Down with Keanu Reeves!” T-shirt at Hot Topic.
