Anyone notice that most everyone has Fight Club listed in favorite movies section of their profile. I think this says something about the type of people here. Personally it's my favorite movie of all time but when my parents saw it, they thought it was the worst movie ever made. Sometimes I think asking someone what they think of this movie is a good way to find out if I will like them or not.

one of my favorite movies too, i really thought it was brilliant as an allegory, its the people who take it all literally that worry me.

I think Palahniuk is a cynical, sarcastic post-modern, one-dimensional author. He had clever plots with wacky twists, but it's just this droll verbage over and over. Like the kind of guy who just sits outside of a coffee house (not Starbucks) talking shit about everyone he sees. Like an asshole Radiohead fan.

it's one of my favorites b/c, when i was 12, my friends and i had a little 'fight club' of our own, so i understood how controlled ass-kicking is such a great way to release aggression and frustration.

also, i really like 'guy flicks,' plus they close the movie with one of my favorite pixies songs! what's not to like?

my father hated fight club and refused to even watch the entire film, yet he will obsseviely watch anything involving steven segal or jean claude van damme and especially chuck norris.

go fig.

my favourite film to call him on is kurt russel in "soldier"
my god i enjoy making fun of him for that one.

Palahniuk is just a beautiful writer who shares the views of most desensitized youth raised by society to be consumers and activists and he works well for the times.
I need to get more of his work...

it's a great movie-but i love the book so much more. i think that maybe if you didn't understand it entirely it could seem like he was some asshole sitting outside of a coffee shop talking shit about everyone. although i have no idea how that would have anything to do with it being a good book or not. oh well-maybe i'm the retard here. i actually kinda commented on this fact in my profile-cause i hesitated putting it on my list since everyone else did. whatever

A lot of people here like Rushmore, which pleases me greatly. It's very droll.

I'm one of the few who hate Fight Club. Bleh, more New Hollywood dreck. Its obviously not because of the violence (Battle Royale is one of my favorite movies and I thought Nekromantik was pretty tame) or whatever some people call it on, its just a matter of excessive MTV style FLASH FLASH editing (just like The Matrix and Ghost Dog and all those other "stylish" movies), too little substance (its about as deep as Orwell's Animal Farm) and way too much Brad Pitt. I never even thought of it as a "guy" movie. Predator, now there's a guy movie, Brad Pitt smacking some guy around and dallying around with a pseudo-anarchistic cult is just, well, boring.

hollywood dreck(i have no idea what that is supposed to mean) perhaps, but ill take it compared to the rest of the crap they churn out.
my stepmom is this sort of sheltered squeemish christian suburban half hippie type that cant watch animal shows on the discovery channel and some how she ended up seeing it and it totally rocked her world. she LOVED it and now shes a fan of chuck whateverhisname is. just thought that was interesting, it kind of changed her perspective on things.

Fincher used to direct music videos, do you expect anything other than flashy MTV?

I used to post on a fight club message board, you see some really pathetic individuals.

Take two of hollywoods pretty boys and put them in a $70 million dollar movie about aspects of anarchy and nihilism, post modern irony at its finest.
