Ok, we all know the stereotype... white people can't dance. Well, I've seen some white girls at a club I go to occasionally, and contrary to popular opinion, they can dance. However, I have yet to see a white male at this club dance without looking like a complete moron.

I pose this question: should we change the stereotype to white men can't dance?

works for me, i sure can't dance and women of all races seem to posses a whole different set of joints than us when they dance.

No. Some white men can dance really well. Stereotypes may be funny, but gross generalizations are hardly ever accurate.

Have you ever danced with a cracker under the pale moonlight?

Precisely. I've seen some awesome male dancers, including a lot of my friends.

It has a lot more to do with confidence than moves. I have a lot of respect for people who go out and have a good time. I love watching people dance and have fun with it, no matter what they're doing. I'm always trying to drag people out to the dance floor. Even guys who are shy can follow a decent lead if you grab their hips. smile

Well, sure, if you're going to bring up that riverdance dude...

I'm just sayin', for the most part, which is indeed a gross generalization, the vast majority of white dudes I've seen dancing really suck. Just my observation. Other cross-sections of humanity may suck just as much at flailing their various limbs in an organized fashion, but In My Humble Opinion, Mr. Whitey takes the cake.

Don't get me wrong. I don't think pasty white dudes like me, with no coordination to speak of, should avoid dancefloors. I love to have a few drinks and go dancing. I'm just not good at it.

Oh hell yeah, dude is definitely an exeption to the rule. Besides picking the awsome track "Hollywood Swinging," he tears up the stage like a maniac.

I've danced with many white boys who could hold their own on the floor. Of course, it helped that they were gay or bi... wink

Most white dudes can't dance but a lot can. It's not like all black dudes have rythym. Believe me, I've seen more then a few who can't.

Ah, see, that's the demographic I'm missing. The club I frequent has many lesbian attendees, but very few male homosexuals to speak of.

Mikael is so cool. We still have no idea who The Man in the White Hat is...

Other great dancers: Warchild, SinJun, doctashock, MrNiceGuy, funkmunky...

I have yet to experience a dance with Lemonkid. You're MINE at Prom. Same goes for trilobyte.

And I'm just saying that if you're looking for accuracy, white women need to be included. I've seen a lot of horrible dancing done by white women. I'd say more often than by guys, since the guys usually know enough to stay off of the dance floor.

Seriously*, if you're going to make a judgment based on race, be sure to include both sexes. It's more fair that way.

Hit up some goth/industrial/EBM clubs. Those guys can really move. love That's where I hang out, so I get to see more good male dancers than bad.

Yup. Those cute gothy boys can hold it down. Slip in some darkwave and it's all you can do to not have a serious gay boy goth sex orgy at some clubs back home. And of course, me being the weird black dude I never got into those things. I suck. frown

Ouch, I'm getting schooled left and right.

I remember my jaw dropping the first time I saw Fred Astaire dance.

Who said anything about being gay? I said goth/EBM/industrial. One does not necessarily equal the other...

Actually, no, though I guess it could be seen that way. biggrin

It means I was born in 1981. The name for me is very literal yet very mysterious. biggrin

Funny, I felt that all that boy/boy body grinding I saw at the goth clubs in my hometown did kind of suggest that a lot of those dudes were equal opportunity enjoyment. biggrin

Or mabye it was seeing the two blonde dudes in the bathroom making out and a brunette joining in just cause he could. Who knows? Mabye it was all just the air up there.
