I never wanted to read the books, so I really couldn't tell you from that trailer what I think.

But this book has such a crazy nerd following to such crazy degrees there's no way in hell they'll ever pull it off. And tha's not by judging the movie, but the devoted fans of the book.

I was hoping this was a new trailer, this one has been out for several months.

More discussion about this topic is available in the Douglas Adams group, as well as other threads on this board.

I'm not hopeful right now, but I figure if my expectations are low I can't be too disappointed. I am however going to see it in New York with Fenchurch, so at least that will be entertaining.

Douglas Adams helped write the screenplay for this one.

Don't expect anything that is in the book, TV series or radio series.

Every time this has been written, it's been done differently for different mediums. This included a HUGE rewrite from radio (the original version) to book format to TV format.

This film will not follow the story as set out by anything that's gone before.

Please everyone, sit back and enjoy this movie on it's own merits. You really, really, really cannot pre-judge this movie.

I know it's gonna rule.

yea dude, everyone stop calling this a trailer. it's called a teaser. i thought it was a new one too, that actually showed what the movie would be like at all.

i also have low expectations. but at the same time, i will be really sad if it sucks.

sigh. i hope i am wrong and it will be great.

PS: NOBODY CALL THIS A TRAILER EVER AGAIN.

pps: i am talking to you owen. or should i say STUPID FAG??

this looks stupid. This movie's gonna suck without Douglas Adams there to say "Whoa whoah whoah. Are you kidding me? Look at Marvin. That's retarded."

Give it a chance. I think we can all be moved. Sam Rockwell as Zaphod is inspired casting. So is Stephen Fry as the voice of the book.
Still, its the fucking mouse. God, I hate the fucking mouse. I do hope the mouse stays out of it all. Or I'll have to certainly have to schedule a nasty visit to both California and Florida to mess that fucking mouse up, because messing with certain fables I liked as a kid are one thing, but fucking up my real childhood by fucking up The Hitchhiker's Guide is tottally another matter.

You be quiet Spooz-boy. That robot definitely looks like Marvin, once you get past the TV version (also a fine depiction), and see it for what it will be.

"Pick a number. Any number."
"Umm, five."
"Wrong. See?"

Are you trying to say Marvin does not look like something a bunch of mindless jerks in marketing would call "Your plastic pal who's fun to be with"? I think he looks perfect, designed as a consumer product, but still horrifyingly depressed.
