I love the comics / graphic novels. I've read the olde "Watchmen", "TankGirl" (In Deadline too), "Ghostworld", "SummerBlonde", "Optik Nerve". I'm now reading "Stand on a mountain, Looking back" (Paul Hornschemeir) "It's a good Life, if you don't Weaken" (Seth) and "Never Ending Summer" (allison cale / cole?)

So, What comics / graphic novels do you like, and why?
If you produce your own zine feel free to plug it here. Let me know how to buy it and I probably will, if it's cheap (I don't have much cash).

the artwork is beautifull and dreamlike, the stories interesting and a nice change from the standard superhero and villain fair.

My tastes are pretty vanilla I suppose.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Watchmen
X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Asgardian Wars
Kingdom Come

That sort of thing.

I dig the superhero schtick.

endless detail in the artwork, stroy is a great alternative take on the BladeRunner idea

Have you read Rusty and Big Guy? Darrow is one of the impressive artists I have ever seen in any medium.

I'm never going to leave this thread....

Kingdom Come and Watchmen have two of the best endings to a comic I have ever read. When Captain Marvel shows up at the end of three? One of the greatest comic moments, in my opinion. It's just devastating.

I've read all of those except Asgardian Wars. I don't even know the story. Who was involved?

Batman - The Killing Joke, and Arkham Asylum have been 2 of my favorites for a long time. The original Wolverine limited series (I know it's graphic novel form, but I don't remember what it's called), and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac are two more I still find fun to read. Also, a few years ago I got The Preacher graphic novel as a birthday present. That I really enjoyed.

*edit: Wow that's creepy. While I was writing this comment the guy above me put up pictures of half my list.

I love Madman, by Mike Allred; love Hellboy; I like anthologies a lot, I thought Flight v.1 was beautiful can't wait for v.2. Pulpatoon's Pilgrimage was awesome, as was The Golem's Mighty Swing. Then X-Men, I've been reading it since I was twelve--I come and go but right now Astonishing is beautifully illustrated and touching and full of fan boy moments. I also read Daredevil every month, Fantastic Four, some Spider Man, too, and finally, Adam Strange is pretty good, as is Fables and Wonder Woman.

I cut my teeth on X-Men and Wolverine back in the day, and then had nothing to do with comics for years, but now I'm plowing my way through Cerebus the Aardvark. I'm in to Church and State vol. 1, and I'm loving every minute of it.

I have a tendency to go for writers as opposed to titles.
Anything by Alan Moore (In particular Watchmen and Batman: The killing joke)
Most Frank Miller stuff (Excluding the atrocious DK2 and Hard boiled - sorry everyone)
Most Gaiman stuff.
Garth Ennis and steve Dillon (Hellblazer and Preacher)
Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale (Batman: The long hallowe'en and Batman: Dark Victory)

Though titles that I'm really into include:
Batman,
Hellblazer,
Wolverine,
And I've just started really getting into the Ultimates.

Oh, I'm also a closet Freak brothers fan as well, but the less said about that the better! blush

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I forgot Blankets! I read four times the week I brought it home. It's an amazing story, especially if you, like me, spent a lot of your formative years going to church and being in love with someone without knowing how to reconcile those needs.
