Yeah, when I first saw this my response was going to be, "What, did hot topic run out of stuff to sell?" ...well hey, look at that, I guess that was my response after all...

I'm a little disappointed at the trailer as I thought it would be darker than that, considering that the story behind this film is really, really horrible.

There is a school of thought that posits that making light of something terrible is worse than treating it with due solemnity.

Besides, it's not that bad a story in and of itself. I mean, nothing awful happens. It's a Russian folk tale. The thing that is awful is never said - that the corpse bride is a Jew killed on her wedding day to prevent her from bearing future generations of Jews. The bride would be buried in her wedding dress. Hence the intense sadness and desperation of the corpse bride.

However, all that should stay below the surface. Like any fairy tale, the darkness should be an element of it, but not an overwhelming one. The audience doesn't really need to be beaten over the head with the reason the story came into being.

I think that's why he said it. He's baiting me.

Or she, I didn't really look and it's hard to tell by a puffin.

Fuck that, what if Danny Elfman says no to him? I've seen some cool Burton movies without Depp, but Elfman's scores are just fucking necessary when you venture into full-on Burton territory.

I've always considered Burton's best movie to be Ed Wood, and Elfman didn't do that.

Yeah, but I don't really qualify that as "full-on Tim Burton territory." I mean, I agree it's his best film, but it's a bit of a compromise between typical Hollywood story and Tim Burton movie. Kind of like Big Fish was a typical feel-good comedy/drama, Tim Burton style. I dunno, your definition may vary.

co-directed. which isn't bad, considering that he didn't direct 'nightmare' at all (a fact which many people overlook)

no offense to anyone who has said anything about Tim Burton not directing this or that and blah blah blah. Who really gives a fuck? not I. It was a good Movie. This looks like it will be good. Stop fuckin' naysaying about stoopid shit. Like it really matters to anyone here who did what, you didn't work on it or get paid for it so whatever. I swear, everytime someone posts something around here about whatever the topic is, 10 people have to reply with some naysaying and blah blah blah that dude is a dick or she's just doing that for attention, or thats not this its that. I think we should go back to the "If you don't have something nice to say don't say it all", or at least reply with something relevant to the topic. Pretty please with sugar on top? maybe a cherry if your nice about it. kiss

thank you!!!!! who cares, nightmare before christmas is a great movie (one of my favs) and this one looks like itt'll be right up there with it. I don't care who the credit goes tp

Well, I do. Henry Selick did a brilliant job as director and Tim Burton gets all the credit. And I'd bet money that his co-directing credit on this is the same as Frank Miller's on Sin City, i.e. he had a very strong hand in the look of the film, but didn't do much actual directing. Koenigsegg was merely saying that credit should be given where credit is due. And it should.

Clever, but Walt Disney is the name of the company, as well as it's founder, so there you go.

Well, you're setting a fine example by going off topic and being rude. kiss

It does matter to people, or else it wouldnt come up. And yea, sorry, but it DOES matter when something that is such a complicated and passionate piece of work is done by hundreds of people....

....and someone fairly detached not only gets to put their name on it, but make it bigger than the title, then are assumed to be the genius responsible for all the magic.

How about we put George Lucas' name above "STAR WARS", including Empire (arguably the best and most popular) and Jedi? Or my name above every Marvel Comics movie?

Count me in. Should I wait until it opens? Or should I mail my $11 to Mr. Burton now?
