In a sign that the cultural stupidity launched by a bare tit at the Super Bowl is not going away, Fox pixelated the image of a bare cartoon ass from a showing of "Family Guy" on Sunday night, despite the fact that said ass did show in the original viewing about 5 years ago.

"We have to be checking and second-guessing ourselves now, and that's really difficult," Fox entertainment president Gail Berman said Monday. "We have to protect our affiliates."

Fox didn't act on a complaint. But the move happened in the wake of the FCC's October vote to fine 169 Fox stations $7,000 each for airing an episode of "Married By America" that showed people licking whipped cream from strippers' bodies and a man in his underwear being spanked by strippers.

I think that if Michael Powell could lick some whipped cream off a stripper's body, he might relax a bit.

I think your right about the stripper thing. I got $5 on it. Lets send him one. Why were at it, we can get a male stripper for Tipper Gore to. She looks like she needs one.

that whole Super Bowl thing was fuckin infuriatin. if it had been Justin gettin his nipple out, no-one would give a shit. but no, it was - oh my christ - a female.

if people actually used their fuckin brains they'd see this is in fact sexual discrimination, albeit blurred.

if i switch on the TV (which is becomin a rarity these days) and see someone wearin a cross that represents Jesus Christ, whom supposedly i must embrace as lord or suffer an eternity of agony and despair, surely i have every fuckin right to take offence to that implication and make a formal complaint? and would anyone listen? no. but if a woman exposes her breast, a piece of flesh, that's offensive? and the powers that be will listen to the genetically defective, nature allergic fuckheads who complain? ok...

sorry, i digress, but your country has serious problems.

One of the articles

Looks like from the article that the FCC had nothing to do with this. FOX did it by itself to avoid trouble.

good lord. if you want to re-air Family Guy, don't fucking take anything away from it. If you're going to make it all toned down and cut up, then don't even bother. let everyone who actually WANTS crude humor get the Cartoon Network and watch it after the uptight Fox execs go to bed.

I agree that the cross is at least as offensive as a nipple. At least, if our government is supposed to be interpreting it, the cross should be *more* offensive.

Feel free to file a complaint. However, you should be aware that it will be a drop in one group's very large puddle:

MediaWeek article
"Through early October, 99.9 percent of indecency complaints ... were brought by the PTC, according to the FCC analysis dated Oct. 1."

If they weren't spamming the FCC, you might have a chance at being heard.

EDIT: My kingdom for a preview button.

Agreed.

Self censorship is fine, but once art is created, leave it the fuck alone. If you can't handle broadcasting it, don't bother, but don't change a thing about it if you do.

Same with all other forms of art.

The thing is, I don't entirely blame Fox for this, like I didn't blame the affiliates who didn't show Saving Private Ryan on Veteran's Day. Who knows what the FCC is going to fine? You've got a guy with such a tight ass that he's shitting diamonds running it, and loony advocacy groups spamming the FCC with complaints about everything (and if I'm remembering correctly, Bozell did say he would file complaints on Saving Private Ryan, because he'd prefer WWII soldiers to say "Golly darn" and "Well shucks.")

The FCC is doing all they can to kill broadcast TV.

They were showing that on the Simpsons 10 years ago, too. And Peter's ass is way less sexy than Homer's.

I think I remember reading that almost all complaints the FCC gets are generated from a single tiny organization. You would think that if the FCC realizes this they would stop taking the complaints so seriously and realize that most Americans don't mind a little T & A on the television.

Fox will pixelate Family Guy ass but they forgot how like 3 days earlier they reran the Simpsons bear suit one where Homer's ass was viewable for a good 1/4 of the episode. Strange surreal

Lemme guess - Rev. Donald Wildmon's American Family Association? (www.afa.net)

Personally, if I wanna little T&A, that's what a DVD player is for!

Remember the episode "Road to Europe"? Cartoon Network aired that before Fox did, and there's a line at the end where Brian asks Stewie "Do you want to go take a dump in Mother Maggie's shoes?". When Fox finally aired it (shortly after it was announced they were bringing Family Guy "back") they bleeped out the word "dump".

I knew right then that the Fox/Family Guy reunion was going to be a huge disaster. Seriously, Fox sucks.
