talk about the business you OWN

hey, id like to hear from people who own their own business. tell me about what your business does, how you got started, how long you've been in business, and how things are going for you.

id like to soon start a few myself, and id just love to hear from people who are already doing it.

so far, i run http://www.interludemagazine.com and book shows/tour manage for musicians...i have a few other ideas that i'll be working on soon.

also, can anyone tell me about your experience with getting a small business loan (amount, how long it took, how hard it was, what they looked for--and what was most important-- when approving you, etc)

There's a small business owners' group, I forget what it's called though - I'm sure you can find it with a search.

I run a business, and my best advice would be to drop the "few" for now. Start one, make it rock and roll, use the money it makes to start your next, etc. etc. etc.

we do various things.

Byproducts of processes that are perfectly safe.

Auto repair business, since 1998. I took no loans, used all my savings, bought a beat old building and remodeled it largely by myself. Plowed every cent back into the business, bought tools and equipment, and sold the building this summer.

Looking for a bigger building with better zoning now. Hopefully things will take off after buying the new place so I can hire people.
