Pre-marital sex, one of God's greatest inventions, has finally been granted to the good people of Virginia. The Virginia Supreme Court has finially decided to overturn laws making sex before marriage illegal.

Expect marriage rates in the state to plummet because you were all following this law to the letter, right?

Until a few years ago, it was technically illegal in South Carolina for blacks and whites to marry. No one enforced that law, of course. But still.

Sad part is, when the removal went up for a vote, it almost failed.

I'd heard that Virgina had an anti-fornication law (prohibiting sex before marriage) in an article in the Washington Post. The article refers to the law in a story about another morals law, still on the books in 23 states, that criminalizes adultery. AdulterySuch laws seem ripe for a test case, in light of the Supreme Court's decision in Lawrence, striking down sodomy laws as unconstitutional. The defendant here, however, a fellow named Bushey decided to accept his punishment and not pursue a constitutional challenge, despite initially expressing an interest in doing so.

There are all kinds of weird laws on the books, sexual and otherwise, mostly because legislators just never get around to removing them once they become largely outdated and for all practical purposes not enforced anyway.

The problem is when some ass tries to get them enforced out of nowhere. Though actually, that may be what is needed to finally get the laws off the books...

There are a lot of laws that are damn near impossible to enforce. It's a wonder these cases ever wind up in court. Many of you know that Connecticut had a law, struck down by the Supreme Court in Griswold v. Connecticut, making it illegal to use contraceptives. Few people know, however, that Connecticut still has a law criminalizing impure thoughts.

This is just another case of liberal activist judges promoting their pro-pre-marriage sex agenda. Because of this decision kindergarden teachers will be required to demonstrate all 52 sex acts in a standard "dirty deck of cards" to their classes.
