Of the five members of The Kids in the Hall, Bruce McCulloch has always been known as the one that’s been the least seen, the quietest kid. In fact the other Kids call him socially retarded. But that’s just retard talk. A number of fully formed and hysterical projects have sprung from him over the years such as his two comedy albums, Shame-Based Man and Drunk Baby Project. He has also directed a number of studio films including Stealing Harvard.

Now he is going back to his roots, the live comedy...

HOLY CRAP.

I worship Bruce McCulloch.
If I ever have a baby boy, I'm naming him Bruce. And I'm not kidding.

Did he say... he did a stage version of Letters to Wendy's?????

Um, I bought that book a long time ago. It is classified as a poetry book; a series of weird, fairly insane vignettes and things written by Joe Wenderoth, based on very wrong and/or bizarre things he thought about while sitting in Wendy's restaurants, supposedly written on the backs of Wendy's customer comments cards. One of the first ones in the book ended something like- "I want to spank Wendy's bare white ass and fuck her hard."

Anyway, I love Bruce's stuff- "The Daves I Know, "Terriers," "Laura," the sketch where he yelled at the people stuffin' themselves full of crullers, the guy who got his pen stolen, the weird little rambling kid who talked about French dogs who smoked, the "eelmonkey" with the "bullum head," etcetc.

kids in the hall was the fucking greatest. i always thought of mark mckinney as the lesser-noticed as opposed to bruce, even when he was on snl.

Nice! I was surprised to see this on the frontpage. Kids in the Hall is greatness. I associate Bruce McCulloch with the skit where he has a 'moment' with his dog.

One of my favorite pieces of comedy writing ever is:

"An Open letter to the guy who stole Bruce's bike wheel"

Bruce: Well, why did you do it? Are you some sort of jerk or something? It's *my* front wheel! What did you think, that I'd -- drive home and not notice it was stolen? What are you then? Some sort of *prick*? Some sort of idiot? Some sort of thief? What would you do with just my front wheel anyway? What good would just one wheel be? You human loser! Well, why didn't you buy your own wheel if you wanted one so badly. That's what I did.

I'm really glad this interview was undertaken. As little as is actually given where it regards the strings having to be pulled to get such a funny scope out to people, it really does show a lot and give a special look into what's kind of on his mind where it regards comedy being his job.

I've always admired everyone on that show for the things they convey, but it's great to be able to see a personal side to it and know that my admiration is completely backed up by and going toward the right place. My support will always be behind Bruce. Even in fist fights.
