So, I take it this means nobody wants to read my "Enterprise" fanfic where Archer is a giant Vole and Hoshi is a baby seal and they, uh, have sex? Erotically?

Um...I'm basically all of them. blackeyed
Except for anything to do with erotica because I hate sex.

Which is why I had to become a geek.

*scratches head* *considers*

*scratches head again*

I don't get it. I've worked in the comic book (store) industry for nearly ten years, but I only rate as geeky as 'Comic Book Fans Who Read Superhero Comics', Video Gamers', 'Heinlein Fans', and 'Science Fiction Television Fans'.

Okay, and I used to be one hellaciously commited Star Trek fan but that passion has faded.

So riddle me this: how is it that, in this Environment of Geekdom, I haven't moved further along the scale?

Oh, and what are 'Furries'?

"Furries" are those curious people who choose to seek sexual and social satisfaction through the act of dressing up in big animal costumes.

Not necessarily. It's the yiffy people who are into the whole sexual part of it.
Some furries are so just because they like drawing weird anthropomorphic cartoon pictures or...well, okay, I can't think of any more reasons..

Well, i'm no expert on the subject but i'm pretty sure that the term "Furry"(sp) is held exclusively for those people who do the dressing up.

I would think that those who do the drawings would simply be called "Furry enthusiasts" or something along those lines.

I was going to say the exact same thing, except without the "used to," part.

Thank you Josh and Miel for the illumination. Now that I have been apprised, I must now go have a shivering case of the heebie-jeebies. *shudder* There's some people out there that are just a little too interesting for me. biggrin

I'm so glad I didn't know what "furries" were until just now.

I fit into the not listed technology geek and computer programmer geek areas.

True, but what I meant was they aren't all into the sexual side of it.

They also don't all dress up in fursuits, sometimes they just put on ears and a tail and meow to greet people. (Though this heirarchy was probably referring to the actual fursuiters.)

I'm a published fantasy artist, so it's like a free fucking pass to feel superior to all my friends who like anime, manga, comic books, science ficiton, ren fests and furry sexxor.
