Funny, you'd think that an infinitely powerful god could deal with blasphemy himself without needing help from the British government. surreal

I wonder if he's going to appear in court, I mean he is the injured party.

47,000 complaints doesn't make 47,000 people. Strange how alot of the emails sent were the same and sent at the same times, and alot of the phone calls came from the same phone number. Also strange how some of those in Christian Voice have admitted to buying CDs of harvested emails to use for spoofed emails.

Still... if they want to join the same league as the goddamn spammers, go ahead. mad

Now if i were a christian, it wouldn't have been jerry that caused me damage - surely it would be the fact that the "christian voice" don't have enough faith to believe that its gods will for the programme to be aired, and are trying to opress peoples freedom of speech.

"If Jerry Springer - The Opera isn't blasphemous then nothing in Britain is sacred."

Is he trying to say that british television or average jerry springer episodes are sacred?

The best part about this, was that "Christian Voice" published the names and addresses of the BBC Governers, who were promptly issued with a number of threats - which were of course promptly attributed to "non-christians who were reading our web-site".

I think we should all send in complaints about the BBC's songs of praise program - maybe even get a bunch of athiests to go protest outside the gates, because I for one don't want that kind of poisonous crap poured into my home, and as I am only as competant to work a TV remote as your average christian...

And again, this is a small group of people that don't reflect true christians.

I personally feel taking legal action against people in this fashion is unscriptural and non-christian. I also think participating in politics on a canidate level is the same if you run AS a Christian. the two are mutually exclusive.

These people are just angry people that use something (In this case, Xianity) in order to be assholes to someone else while feeling self-righteous. Other people behave the same way (like animal activists who throw paint on people's fur coats as a off the top of my head example). the idea isn't so much that this is CHRISTIANITY that is the problem, so much as a tendancy among people to feel the need to validate their worth through standing up for something (regardless of the fact it is irrelevant).

True Christianity does it's best to live at peace with everyone else. People got enough problems with out me adding to the pile with frivilous lawsuits about my "so called" being offended.

Maybe.

I've fallen from the Fundie, Neo con, fighting social progress just because it doesn't fit in with a particular interpretation of the bible (which I don't subscribe to, and even if I did, I don't apply to people who aren't me). Doesn't mean I don't have my beliefs or think they are valid. I prefer to say that THEIR way isn't the only way christianity can be lived or viewed.

Also, it's the name of a succubus in Planescape:Torment (D&D video game) that refuses to be evil anymore. Kind of ironic, in a geeky and obscure way.
