my best works were stolen from me about 7 years ago. i havent had the motivation to get back into full swing since. and when i say best i mean just that. a portfolio that was 3 ears in the makin gone in 3 seconds. i was pissed for the rest of the school year about that.

you know my best work was stolen too!!! it was only a single piece and not an entire portfolio but it was my best work. thankfully I took a picture of it close to finishing it incase I ever build the motivation to recreate it.
I feel your loss though... frown

a lot of the stuff i have to show on the computer are from over a year ago... i've done a lot more since then, but the only proof is on my walls and on my floor.

these are from a photoshoot called Perillous Playground. it was my first photo shoot. the other drawings are sketches for two comic books i started but didn't finish... have fun.

hope it works

Bijou, your drawing rocks! I really dig that type of work, I try to do something sort of similar with my art (well, not that similar, but in the sense of playing with tone and such). I try to take whatever it is that I'm drawing and draw it semi-realistically, but then really mess with the contrast so that there's just a lot of really heavy blacks juxtaposed by open whites interspersed with textural detailing. When it works I'm really stoked, when it doesn't…well biggrin

Anyway, I did the illustration for the "cover" of sequentialtart.com this month. You can see it here.

Image also currently has two 5 page previews for Rex Mundi, for issues #0 and 1 up on their website and they're here and here.

Peace!

I'm very much in need of sharing right now... and I havenÕt really given anybody a chance to see my work. So thanks B for this opportunity.

Older work:

Juliette
1992/Acrylic on canvass/16"x20"

If you look closely at the hair and the way it was painted, you will see the influence of the art deco painter Tamara de Lempicka on me. She employed a slight cubist style to her work I always loved, and I tried to capture a bit of her in this piece. What I like most about this piece isn't the face... but that hair.

Ma', Pa' and the Four Horsemen Of My Apocalypse
1997/Acrylic on canvass/24"x36"

This painting is a tribute to the people who influenced me the most growing up. First off, there are my parents of course. Below them is the four artists and thinkers that helped me to form my opinions about the world; Robert Williams, John Lennon, Anton LaVey and Salvador Dali. All great men, and as diverse as my thoughts about this universe are.

Sherilyn Fenn Framed in Tribal Design
1993/Acrylic on canvass/36"x24"

Sherilyn Fenn. This painting is sooooo dated. Not to mention the tribal tattoo design down the side. Can anybody say early nineties! I still love this piece though. It shows my roots in classic pin-up styled portraits. I used airbrush to obtain the realism needed for this work, but went over the airbrushy softness with a dry brush effect to roughen up the painting, and bring it a more realistic look. I then used color pencils and acrylics to do the hair and detail. The end result is a painting that I love. Too bad this one sold in the Ha-Cha-Cha show in New York's Bess Cutler Gallery. After I finished it, I couldn't even hang it on my wall a few days before she was gone...

Newer work. Mixed medium (photography, digital composition, acrylics)

ItÕs very well constructed, great proportions and framing. I like the technique you used to give her a washed out graphic screen-printed feeling as well. That's something I do on the computer when I am doing a lot of graphic design. That look is very cool.

Love these posters. I've been wanted to do some myself... not enough time in the world. I really like your color pallet on both of them... very cool composition as well.
