In a strange case of life imitating the movies, Lemoore Union High School in Lemoore California has banned all dancing for the year's remaining school dances. The ban was issued after students disobeyed a warning, at a winter formal last month, telling them to "either quit dirty dancing or face the possibility of not dancing at all."

There is still hope, however, in that students may have to sign a form in which they will agree that dancing in an unapproved fashion will get them kicked out of school.

Organizers of the Sadie Hawkins dance, a fund-raiser for the school's FFA Organization branch, formerly Future Farmers of America, are working with Bennett to come up with a series of regulations, which could allow that dance to go on.

One idea is to let students sign a form stating that raunchy dancing will get them kicked out.

Students hope similar regulations could lead to the reinstatement of other dances, particularly the prom

Where's Kevin Bacon when you need him?

By 'dirty dancing' they mean 'freaking', and I'm glad someone is trying to put an end to it.

They might have fun in ways which hadn't occured to the boring people who dominate their lives.

Someone should organise a dance it where all the randy teenagers overtake the gym and hump each others legs off. Admit it, it'll be beautiful.

This guys needs to pull the stick out of his ass, and then the kids need to stop bitching. Yeah he is being a puritan assmuch, but the kids had warning, and broke the rules anyway. IMO they fucked themselves. In addition an out to the the no dancing has been provided, if they can pull their heads out of their asses long enough to follow it.

p.s. Kids are dumb. High school 'dirty dancing' is gross. Why, back in my day we used to leave room for the Holy Spirit. These damn kids don't know what's good for 'em. *waves cane in the air*

I thought the whole point of school dances was to help stimulate kid's interest in sex/the opposite sex? Get them hanging out with people outside their normal "clique"?

I find it shameful to think that it's got "Hawkins" in it. What the hell is a "dance" if you can't "dance"? Why not call it an "ice-cream social?"
