A charter school in Texas strip searched ten students between the ages of 10 and 11 when another student reported a missing $10 bill. One mother pulled her four children out of the school after the incident.

Amazingly, what they did was not illegal, though police are conducting an investigation.

Falling under the category of pure FUCKED UP:

[Principal] Green said the school has conducted such searches in the past without calling parents.

"Never had a complaint," she said. "I can't say if it happened again I wouldn't do the same thing."

...

"Nobody objected to it. Most of the kids didn't mind because they wanted to get their name cleared," she said. "It was no different than what the students would be doing when they would be in P.E. We searched everything down to the socks."

Well, this just makes my theory stronger, we need to saw off texas, and give it a big ol boot to float away into the gulf of mexico. We just need to make sure we do it when G W bush goes visits home. God dam texas anyways.

Since the $10 bill wasn't found on the students, why didn't they strip search any of the teachers or staff who may have had access to it?

Hey now, I live in Texas. Even though most of Texas is mostly conservative(ex. TX spawned Bush) doesn't mean the U.S. could do without it. If you get rid of it you'd be getting rid of me(ex. an aggressive liberal). I'm here to fight and change what's wrong with America.
So keep your prejudices and generalizations to yourself.

Can anyone say child abuse?

Im sure the kids really DID mind being stip searched. But probably were too freaked out to speak up. Becasue well, if a principal is that fucked up that he strips kids to find 10 dollars, what the fuck would he do if they complained about it???

I hope someone sues..

But the upside of this is that 4 children will be robbed of an education thanks to their overreactive mother. confused

Yeah, obviously the principal is a twat and should be replaced. Despite, under the law, children having nearly no rights, schools should never be allowed to treat them this way.

I really don't see what the problem is. It isn't like the principal searched the children personally, or forced them to strip in front of the school.

Ten dollars?
Seriously, when things came up missing when I was in elementary school, you know what the overlords did?
They kept us in at recess until someone fessed up.

IT WORKED!

If someone had told me to strip nekkid to prove my ethical rightness when I was ten years old, I would have kicked them in the balls and screamed.

This story makes me ill puke . Treating children like criminals in a holding cell. I agree wth swingkitten ... taking a childs clothes off for 10 bucks is extreem.

So they humiliated a group of young boys and girls , all for a measly ten bucks.

Yet, for one thing, they didn't find ten dollars on any of them, and secondly, even if they they did, what if one of the other kids had ten dollars on them too?

Take an innocent childs ten dollars away because some other says he missing his?

I don't understand the logic to a scenario like this. I really don't understand how they justify their course of action, even to themselves.

And if they found a $10 bill, what then?

As I understand it, most $10 bills look the same, and I doubt anyone keeps a record of serial numbers.

The kids probably didn't know what the hell was going on. I mean they probably didn't realize the seriousness of what was happenening to them.

The poor things... frown

But seriously, strip searched for a $10 bill? Thats just crazy. I would hate to see what would happen to them if they lost $100 eeek

I think you might be a bit off the mark here: I don't think the dollar amount mattered one bit to the principal. It was the "moral" issue (i.e., theft is not to be tolerated) that mattered to the self-righteous jackasses.

I guess I'm wondering, among other things, how the kid sans $10 proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he didn't just lose the money before his classmates started having to strip down.

In light of Michael Jackson found with criminal evidence, all I can think of is the principal has a white cotton panty fetish.
