SF Sketchfest Announces 2005 Lineup

Where do the editors of The Onion, Bruce McCulloch of the Kids in the Hall, Bizarro creator Dan Piraro and Dan Castellaneta of The Simpsons hang out when they're in San Francisco? The Fourth Annual SF Sketchfest, of course.

The 2005 SF Sketchfest highlights the best in comedy from across the country, including:

* Bruce McCulloch (of the Kids in the Hall) performing his unique solo show, with songs and monologues.
* Totally Looped (with Dan Castellaneta of The Simpsons) returning after their successful 2004 run. Old Movies! New Dialogue! All Improvised!
* The writers and editors of the satirical newspaper The Onion engaging in a lively onstage conversation with local literary luminary Dave Eggers.
* Demetri Martin, recently named one of America's 25 funniest people by Entertainment Weekly, performing his multi-media standup comedy act.
* Dan Piraro, creator of the newspaper cartoon Bizarro, bringing his show on the road with "Bizarro's Roadshow Humor Thing."
* The Sklar Brothers returning to SF Sketchfest with "Cheap Seats Live," a live interpretation of their ESPN Classic program "Cheap Seats."
* …and of course SF Sketchfest welcomes back local favorites like Killing My Lobster and Kasper Hauser alongside emerging acts from across the United States.

Shows run Thursday through Sunday at eight, January 13-30, with special late night shows Fridays and Saturdays. See attached calendar for specific dates, times and prices. All shows take place at the Eureka Theatre with one exception: The Onion Live with Dave Eggers takes place at Cobb's Comedy Club at 915 Columbus Ave. in North Beach.

Past performers at SF Sketchfest have included Fred Willard, Amy Sedaris, The Upright Citizens Brigade, Fred Armisen, and Mystery Science Theater 3000. Check out the archive at www.sfsketchfest.com.

You can't have everything. From the SF Chronicle Sunday Datebook:

SF SKETCHFEST

This annual sketch comedy festival brightens up the chilly dark nights; this year's event may be the most impressive yet, with Dana Carvey (in conversation), Bruce McCullough (of Kids in the Hall), "The Onion Live" with Dave Eggers, "Totally Looped" with Dan Castellaneta of "The Simpsons," Dan Piraro's "Bizarro Roadshow" and more. Tickets $10-$25, festival passes $50- $100. Through Jan. 30 at Eureka Theatre, 215 Jackson St., and Cobb's Comedy Club, 915 Columbus Ave., San Francisco; (415) 835-3166, www.sfsketchfest.com.
