The couple across the hall is fighting. They fight like any other would. But right now it is pretty loud, beer bottles crashing, and I am kinda scared. Should I knock on the door or call the police? At what point should I do something?

that's a tough one. you can always make an anonymous call to the police if you think it is out of hand, or if someone is getting hurt. i think that's what i would do.

call the po's.

i'm serious. you shouldn'r have to live with the npise, and the person accross the hall doesn't need to be beaten.

please.

ok, I went over there. I couldn't take it. I lied and told them the noise woke up my baby so I could see what was going on. I saw the guy but not the girl. if I hear any more, I'm calling. is that good? still nervous.

I agree with the anon thing. It will ease your mind and maybe help out a person in an abusive relationship.

Don't go knock on their door , you may just furtherly enrage someone with your query...and you aren't going to get an honest answer anyway. And you couldbe placing yourself in potential danger....Call the building manager if you have one , and if it sounds that bad call the cops....you don't have to give your name or anything .

just so I know in case I need it, is that anon thing done by 911? like a regular emergency? they seem to have quieted down after I went over and I hear talking so I guess the girl is still there.

Good deal. Hopefully it will be a wake-up call to them if it is an abusive relationship.

When you hear 'em breaking things, definitely call the cops. Breaking glass = cops.

When the cops arrive, stay in your apartment. Going to their place the first time was a bad move: now, they're going to think you called the cops, even if you hadn't, because you're the only person they've seen who was annoyed by the ruckus. So, stay out of sight, and maybe they'll forget you were at their door.

Whatever you do, do not get involved in any actual confrontations you might see. Call 911 or pull the fire alarm or whatever, but do not get involved in the fight!

wow, you are always so critical of me. I was scared as hell and didn't know what to do. I don't friggin care if they know it was me. I am glad that they know that :

a: I am not putting up with their crap.

b: If I hear fighting again, they can be sure I'd call again.

c: she's/ he's not alone.
