usatoday

On days when women in the study sample drank heavily _ defined as five or more servings of an alcoholic beverage _ they were nine times more likely to experience sexual aggression than on days when they didn't drink at all.

The article makes no statements regarding the alcohol use of perpetrators of sexual aggression

Ah, alcohol ... the orignal date-rape drug.

I can see this study getting used by the anti-sex / anti-drug crowd. "Friends don't let friends drink and socialize"

I wonder how many of those women in the study were drinking heavily to increase their odds of having sex (or other sexual behavior).
No, dont freak out, I am not saying they deserved to be sexually assaulted.
I am saying we would have fewer sexual assaults if people used a more targeted social-inhibition-inhibitor than alcohol. Any recommendations?

It boggles my mind the amount of research that must have gone into this. I never would have guessed that some people become assholes when drunk, and some people can't defend themselves from assholes when drunk. Who could have figured this out?...

Actually it didn't say anything about the perpetrators' alcohol consumption.
Which is unfortunate, cause I tend to imagine a lot of the perps were drunk frat boys (and I know that is a baseless stereotype)

Ok. I read the story.
Why is it that the drinking of men was mentioned nowhere in this study?
Wouldn't "How many men that sexually assault someone are drunk when they do it?" be a valid question?
Ah, I guess because it's harder to find men willing to admit to sexually assaulting someone. But you could take a sample from those in jail.

It's total anti-drinking, pro-victimization propaganda. The head researcher admits as much.

i am shocked, sir. shocked and appaulled. that men become aggressive when there drinking? who knew? and that girls make bad decisions and put themselves in dangerous situations when they've been drinking? more lies!

as a bartender the best advice i can give is this; if a girl comes to a bar/club with her girlfriend. leave with her. it will deffuse a situation 9 outta 10 times. dont leave with some guy you just met.
unless you KNOW he has a big dick. smile
edit to say OR leave with the bartender. theyre always good guys wink

According to the porno industry, simply being a coed not only increases the chances of sexual assault, but also having it filmed and posted on a pay site.

I'd provide links, but that would be bad karma.

Well, you know how it is. Until someone does the research, lawyers all over the world can use "There is no clinical proof that alcohol blah blah blah" as a defense.

It's politics.

Why they wasted space in any magazine besides Right Wing Today, however, I have no idea.
