This tsunami is one of the saddest tragedies of my life.

On top of that, we have an asshole president with no respect for true democracy, Florida gets hit by a hurricane every other Tuesday, there are locusts everywhere, Sudan is wracked by genocide and the Religious Right (Wrong) have flooded the halls of power throughout the country.

On top of that, I'm new in this town and have nothing to do tonight. So 2004 can "suck it" and here's to everyone having a safe and peaceful 2005.

Anyone out there agree that 2004 sucked or did you love it? Tell us why

Yeah, not a fan of 2004. Lots of neat people died this year, and of course Bush is still alive. 2005 will be better I think. Or maybe I am being too optimistic.

Wow, was that emo? wink

And I didn't mean to suggest Bush was killing people. I mean death'll happen regardless. Still, there aren't that many hookers around Pennsylvania Avenue these days and those mounds of dirt in the Whitehouse backyard look awfully suspicious...

Pretty good year. The Democrats got spanked hard on what mattered to them most (Bush's re-election). A very stupid law, the assault weapons ban, was repealed.

The economy recovered, the mainstream media got spanked hard by the blogs, heralding the inevitability of their eventual downfall. The Pixies came back. On balance, not a bad year.

2004 sucked for me for so many reasons. a few big reasons, but mostly little shit, but the little shit adds up.

in january, i got fired for the first time in my life, from a job i loved

in february, my 22 year old cousin died, a few days after giving birth to her 2nd daughter

my dad got laid off, putting my family in a scary financial place

i got my first traffic ticket. $180 for a god damned rolling stop, while i was unemployed i might add

people i work with, worked with, or people related to people i work with kept dying, just about every other week or so

i went on vacation, thinking i was gonna have the time of my life, and the second day there, i fucked up my knee, and i might need knee surgery eventually

im pretty sure ive got diabetes now

Bush got re-elected, which i was hoping wouldnt happen

my friends and i got stabbed in the back by a very old and close friend of 11 years

i had a very bad month at my current job, and im hanging by a thread and might get fired again...

and im sure there are more, im just to sick of 2004 to even care anymore

Every year has its bad points and its good points...as does every day...the only thing that needs to change is the human tendency to focus on the negative aspects of everything...we need to find the good in everthing and everyone...the world would be a much happier and in turn much better place...

Made a lotta dinero in 2004 so it's difficult to complain. I'm actually pretty neutral on the president. I don't particularly like him, nor do I despise him. I find the passion he inspires (on both sides) quite amusing, however. But I can never quite get that SNL skit out of my mind where George Jr. and George Sr. are duck hunting and W (portrayed by Will Ferrell) has the insatiable urge to keep playing with the antlers.

Makes me grin. But I digress... I'm a veteran. I was in during the first Gulf War (which I completely supported). On the other hand, I am completely embarrased for my country's involvement in this new conflict. It's awful and we took a "bad" situation and made it infinitely worse. Sadly, I think just up and leaving would not be good (now) either. It's a no-win any way you look at it.

I got an overweight ticket a couple of weeks ago in Ohio. (My truck, not my arse fortunately). That kinda sucked but technically it was my fault anyhow. It's difficult for me to say such-and-such bad event happened and thus the year sucked. Most of those things aren't events we can control.

On the brighter side, "The Wall" is coming to Broadway in 2005. I'll have to wait for the DVD (heh).

I may buy a house or a condo (more likely) in 2005 which would be pretty cool.

2004 sucked ass. But every year of my life gets worse. A steady decline of love, wealth, health and happiness. So 2005 should suck more ass.

I should write for Hallmark cards.

2K4 blew. I'm still suck in this crappy job. Bush got elected (no, not re-elected). At the end of the year, despite all the hopes I had, I'm still alone. My Polisci class (well, just the instructor) sucked ass.

In short, I ran as hard as I could, but didn't get anywhere this year. Some shit better fall into place in 2K5.
