Most people would describe Rammstein's music as disturbing but if you really get into them with seeing their videos and their stage shows, it's actually quite hysterical and clever. You can't take a band too seriously where the lead singer pretends that a firehose is his cock and sprays water all over the audience.

Their latest album is Reise Reise with the single Amerika on it. I got a chance to talk with Rammstein's founder Richard Z. Kruspe-Bernstein.

Checkout the official website for Rammstein

Interesting interview. I didn't know much about them until I heard Amerika, since I've been intrigued by their work.

YAY!!! Thanks DRE!

These guys haven't hit their peak yet. With each release they get more innovative, and that's rare in a band with four albums and worldwide success.

Definitely go download the "Mein Teil" and "Amerika" videos, google knows where they are. They're just wonderful. "Mein Teil" is brutal and "Amerika" is an incisive and sincere political statement.

And pick up "Reise, Reise." It's delicious.

Oh, it's a very good video. I don't want to spoil any of it for you, but I will say that Till's part of the video is the best. biggrin

It was on the internet. Maybe I can come up with a link.

okay, i'm a diehard rammstein, they hit their peak with sehnsucht, Herzeleid before that was also truly amazing. their newest releases are just not as impressive. the amerika song is funny and is a sadly true commentary, but it sounds like garbage, till repeats himself too much. reise reise has nothing on their previous releases.

I agree, Reise Reise didnt' do anything for me, love the previous albums though. 2 songs everyone should hear, Mein Herz Brent & Alter Mann. My two favorites.

Only thing is that "Mein Teil" doesn´t mean "my tool" but "my part". Meant as part of the body.
Rammstein are great and I love all videos of them smile

I personally think 'Mutter' was their best album. 'Herzeleid' and 'Sehnsucht' are both great albums. I just felt that they really hit it home on 'Mutter'. I have yet to hear 'Reise Reise'. 'Mein Teil' is a real good song, though.

i've seen it. really wierd stuff. i was following the cannibalism story that inspired the song. one of the headlines for the story was "berliner eats man." the guy had this thing about hansel and gretel. scary.

I agree. Mutter exploded in so many amazing directions. Sehnsucht is still good but somewhat flat in comparison.

Reise Reise's good so far. It's growing on me slowly. Somewhat like Mutter did.

:♥: THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS ARTICLE!!!!!! Myra knows I was trying so hard to get someone overseas to send me "Reise Reise" before it was released in the US. I actually checked Rammstein out for the 1st time when the whole Columbine thing happened, and people were blaming their music for the shootings. I bought Sehnsucht first....then Mutter came out and I bought that...shortly thereafter I got Herzeleid. I hadn't heard anything from Rammstein in a while, then I saw their new videos on AOL rock. And I went scrambling for the new cd and finally got a burnt copy. I think my favorite album is Mutter. I really like Rammstein because their videos are really fucking twisted. They also write about some sick fuckin shit. LOL. One of their songs on Mutter was about a child being buried alive, and they can hear him singing from underground. The thing thats fucking cool about that song is that they have some little kid singing on the actual song! LOL its awesome. This article is wonderful, thank you!!!

Rammstein simply kicks ass! I've been a 'fan' since I heard Engel and got into all other stuff. I only heard one song of their latest album and I agree with some of the comments here that's it's a bit weaker then previous work. Guess I oughta check out the rest before I can judge on the album, though.

Anyway, make sure you check out their previous 3 albumsin full if you like what you hear!

Alter Mann ('Old Man') is my favorite also (not sure if it relates to me, maybe it does at times... who knows...)

I was hoping there would be a mention about how a couple of the members played in a punk band in East German times.

This band is one of the best you will ever see onstage. Quite a show. All fo their albums are just asskicking. The best thing is that the songs sound so evil and powerful but they are about things like transvestites and other things you wouldn't expect. Great interview and keep em coming DRE.
