i cant give you any specific ways of doing it - but it seems very plausible that the information is available in basic white page searchs

as for your birthdate hmmm? try googling your name ... it may be pretty easy to find

Thanks. I was just a little annoyed and wondered at what lengths this person went to find this out and wondering what other info he might have.

It's pretty freakin' easy. As an example, I've taken a username from a message board and within an hour I had where they worked (address and phone number), what kind of music they listened to, their current home phone number and address, their past home phone number and address, their real name, the real names of some of that person's friends, and a brief bio of that person. wink No, I didn't do anything with the information. The person had just challenged me with "YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME," so I had to prove them wrong. biggrin

if any of these are true: your initials are either C.N. or W.S.N, your b-day is Oct 14, 1981, you once lived in or have some affiliation with someone in Austell, Georgia, then you're probably going to watch what kinds of things you put out on the net. i found that about you, through this site, and just kept traversing the web using info from here. if any of these were correct, i have possibly found out your actual address, and your phone number as well. if any of these ring true, email me, and i'll let you know which sites i used and what information i used so you can start protecting yourself a little better. NOTE: i am not using any of this info in any way to harrass you, i am merely showing how easy it is and trying to protect you from further crap from those assholes out there who would do something with it. i am not trying to violate any TOS rules here at SG.

Sorry. Not my initials and have never lived in the south. My birthdate was the only stuff I wondered how he could have found. everythign else I was able to look up but any combination of my name, initials, and birthdate showed nothing.

yeah, i didn't think most of that was true after more research. but the birthdate was easy. it's on your SG profile smile
but with a last name and state, you could do a white pages lookup on the net, which often gives the phone and sometimes address. there are reverse lookup sites out there that will give an address for a phone number. if you have a website, you'll want to make sure any addresses and stuff are hidden, because those are made public in the whois databases of web domains (that's how i got the georgia thing and the name CN, the guy who i guess is in charge of the website you listed as your homepage.

it's scary what's out there. my rule is, when doing anything online, never assume you're anonymous, since you never know what psycho is out there and what they can find out.

So with more research, I found you were born in S.D., lived in the S.E. and LV. Your first initial is J, you might have gone to school in SGV? Email me if you want the URL to that page, so you can remove that info if possible.

Used Google to find other places the person had posted under the same name, including where they'd posted some pictures that were hosted on their own webserver (which was obvious by the server name -- it was the same as the username. Found the server by right-clicking the image and checking the properties.). From there, I visited the webserver and poked around, found the person's resume, checked the server WHOIS records, then used Google to find out more information about the person based on everything I'd found already.

It's really pretty amazing what you can find out from info that's on the internet. wink
