It's free. You might have to download a codec from there before you start converting, but it'll tell you, and that's free too.

MP3 to WMA? MP3 to AAC I could understand . . .maaaaybe, but not Windows Audio

Out of curiosity, why you want WMA instead of MP3, please don't reply with only file size.

You're probably right. You might get better results by converting it to a wav first, and then to a wma.

I recommend Quintessential player. Get the WMA plugin, and the Real audio plugin (called Tara) , while you're at it.

Keep in mind, when you convert lossy formats to other lossy formats, it may sound like crap.

But once you make it a wav, you can use any number of free players to convert it to windows media, including WMP and Quintessential player.

You can also do a google search for freeware that converts stuff.

But I agree with a previous poster - why would you want to take a perfectly good MP3 and convert it to WMA?

I haven't had time to really get into the new Windows Media Player 10 but I belive its doable with that version
