Sell your stuff, quit your job, get a new job, and move in to a houseful of roomates.. (I haven't done this, just the first thing off the top of my head.)

Those of you who say dump your significant other. Have you done that even though your maybe not sure it was their fault? That seems kinda harsh. Care to elaborate?

umm...realise what has put you in the rut and take the nessecary steps to correct it? its what I do, i'm not in a rut, i'm just dealing with a lot on my plate, so I take it all in, think about it and figure out what I need to do to make the whole situation better. Unless the other person is the cause and theres no desire to make it work, then I would not advise to dump anyone. Good friends are few and far between, keep the good ones, make it a point not to hang out with people you dont like...

or you can just say fuck it and do what you need to to get off your ass and live...

You're right, I should explain. I'm saying a lot of people mistake the comfort of a long term relationship with actual happiness. They see a so-so or even a bad relationship as better than being alone or failing at the relationship. A few years ago, I ended a 3 year relationship because I couldn't see it ever improving or going anywhere. We were just not a good fit. But if you have a loving supportive significant other who you feel makes you a happier person (you're happy to sepnd time with them, they support your interests and decisions, etc) then of course don't dump them just to get out of a rut. In that case, you might just need new stuff in your life. A new hobby or a new job or going back to school.

Go to a third world country. You life looks a lot better after that.

I lived in San Diego and would go down to Tijuana. Oh, and the hookers helped too.

On the other end of the spectrum - hang out with an elderly person who needs full time care. It'll make you grateful for the little things.
