The act in Las Vegas provoked the audience members to have a bitter exchange with the legendary comic.

According to media accounts of the incident, Carlin's bit about "moronic" Vegas tourists touched off a bitter, profane exchange with members of the audience, including one woman who shouted "Stop degrading us."

the drinking has definately made him bitter.
the last time i saw him do standup he wasn't even trying to be funny...more or less preaching about the state of affairs in the U.S.
all the same I wish the innovator great success.

He's more of a philosopher now then a comic I would say.

People are not so bright. I remember when I went to see him he was making fun of men who shave their heads rather that go bald with dignity. Some guy near me yelled, "fuck you" to him (and later walked out).

Of course Carlin couldn't hear. The audience was laughing too loudly.
