Well since there a gajillion 'I hate xmas' threads floating around, I'll just mention my personal holiday hate- New Years.

Everyone gets all shitfaced on cheap champagne, standing around looking at a clock.. everyone counts all at once like theyre all in Grade 1 again.. and (like bad sex), after the big ball drop/explosion/whoo-fuckin-hoo,. all I feel is 'Is that all there is? Feels about the same as any other boring day to me. Im going to bed."

Anyone else feel the same?

I'm quite looking forward to getting totally shitfaced.biggrin
I've managed to avoid the countdown to midnight thing for a few years.
But yes, it is just another day after all. smile

I am also not a fan of New Year's Eve. We usually just treat it like any other night, with a day off after. biggrin

The best thing about Christmas and New Years for me has always been the week inbetween - when I can take advantage of the societal downtime to do my own selfish thing. robot

I haven't been awake for a new year's eve in years. I usually go to sleep well before mignight. It's a non-holiday for me. If I want a ridiculous holiday for an excuse to drink...I'll wait for St. Patrick's Day.

I don't hate it, but it's never been a big deal for me either. The parties tend to be kind of lame, I think.

Even though I told some people that I'll go out to some club for NYE ... I really want to just get half a case of beer, drive to a nice quiet beach, bring along some good CDs, drink all the beer, and pass out heh.

Better make that a case of beer...

I like New Year's, but not because of the ball dropping (heh) or anything. We usually manage to miss that particular moment anyway. It's fun for me because all of my old friends come home for it, and I come home for it, and it is my one chance each year to see a lot of people I care about.

I typically don't drink on New Year's Eve, so that I can borrow somebody's van and drive everyone around all night. I get to see 40-50 people at three or four parties and a couple bars.

Dick Clark (or is it Regis this year? this applies to him too) can shove a dildo in his eye socket, for all I care. But I'll continue enjoying New Year's anyway.

The only good New Year's Eve I've ever had was in 1999. Fear that civilization will collapse and the world as we know it will end always spices things up.

New Year's is great. It's an excuse to get drunk and convince myself that I'll stop being a fuck-up. And I get to rinse and repeat every 365 days! smile

Yeah, one of my least favorite holidays. Too many people out because they feel bad about being home on New Year's. Gives the whole thing a very contrived feel, none of the parties have been fun.

Glad to see I'm not along in being all bah-humbug about New Years. As Stock said, it just feels contrived. Like Christmas day, everyone's really nice to one another. That bit tends to get forgotten with the subsequent hangover.

Still, I need to get out this year. Spent last year's NYE at home with the cat and it definitely felt a bit of a cop-out.

Favourite NYE venue to date? Dartmouth, Devon wink

HEY! We pulled it out!!!! Don't you remember me coming home with booze and snacks and some roll'in papers!!!! We watched airplane and got pissed at the neighbors for yelling outside! We were all, "what the fuck are they doing, don't they know how late it is!!!!????" Only for us to then realize, "oh, shit, we're missing it!!!! Happy New Year!!!!!"

I didn't think it was that bad frown Previous years have been much worse...you falling asleep before midnight and me drinking alone....that's suck ass....

So maybe we should start organizing an 'anti-new years eve' party.. we can all hang out in our slipper s and jammies, drink cheap beer and when midnight approaches yell 'WHO GIVE A FLYING FUCK!" at the top of our lungs...
To be honest, one of the reasons I hate New years is that my birthday is the 30th, and I hate/am sick of the fact that everybody is so busy getting ready for Drunkfest Eve that they're never around to celebrate my birthdayness with me. It sucks.
I hate combination Xmas/birthday gifts too. Cheapass lameness.

Edited cause Im still half asleep
