This might be a silly question, but has anyone dyed their pet before? I don't mean with the shitty hair dye that you buy at WalMart, but with stuff made for pets.
I have seen it done before and wondered if it was possible to give my kitty a pink mohawk. In a kitty friendly way, of course.
Any thoughts?

PS. Please don't flame me for being cruel to animals, I just wanted to know if it was possible.
PPS. but please feel free to flame me if you think this is an assanine idea. smile

Please don't do this. ``Made for pets'' is a statement that's open for debate. It doesn't benefit your pet in any way to have their coat dyed, so don't put them at risk just for your aesthetic pleasure.

frown poor kitty.

Maybe food dye, but don't forget that there's a bunch of stuff people can eat that'll kill animals and vice versa.

I think it's an asinine idea.

Leave your cat be. Give yourself a pink mohawk if you want to express it. Or buy your cat a studded collar or something.

I don't want to hurt my cat. Just so everyone knows.
There seems to be a little confusion. whatever
ya know... My brain is fried from finals and I have been listening to a lot of Ace of Base, so this could be a bad idea.
I just can't shake the fact that it would be really fuckin awesome. frown
sorry

It sounds like it would look really cute, but animals are very sensitive to chemicals. I think there's a really good chance your kitty would be hurt if you tried this. How about a cool collar, as suggested earlier, or a sweater if your kitty will wear it?

So perhaps you didn't see the sign? Maybe you should open up your eyes.

You people freak out way to easily. I dyed both of my kitties, one pink and one blue. They didn't mind at all, they got to be held and rubbed for half an hour while we applied the dye, and they were purring the whole time. It didn't hurt them at all, and it came out looking adorable.

Just make sure you use a safe all natural dye. Chemicals could really hurt them, but if you do it right theres nothing wrong with it. wink

Yeah, I dyed Fjola's cat when she gave it to me to look after once.
I used vegetable dye, only left them on for a minute (white fur takes dye really well), holding him the entire time so he couldn't lick them, then I washed it off REALLY well.

I just did his chest and paws because I didn't want to risk getting anywhere near his eyes or mouth, but being a tuxedo cat it gave him a nice glam rock look.

Yeah, I'm thinking the whole mohawk thing isn't a good idea because it's so close to his eyes.

I had a friend who had hear cat's ear pierced with a little tiny gold hoop. She didn't even really care, since she was so young, She was an indoor cat, so she didn't fight or anything.

I know it probably is frowned upon, but even Sativa (cat's name) had this royal air about her, She knew she looked really kewl...

Actually, I used Punky Colours. It's vegetable based. You can get it at any 'punk' type store. Just be careful around the eyes.

I wish I had pics. I have the whole process on video and it's so cute. No pics though.

Yeah, I think piercing an animal is totally unfair and dangerous.
