it's not that the car matters, but i dated a guy for a long time who didn't have a car. it became so stressful and ruined things, because i was constantly cheuffer. not that he expected it or anything, but i mean, if he asks, come on. what do i say.. no? no. plus, if a situation happens where i have to go somewhere and he has to go somewhere and blahblahblah change of plans this and that.. everything gets so fucking mangled. we're still friends, but no thanks on that experience again. he still doesn't have a car.. i take him places from time to time. i feel for him, you know? getting a car is tough, especially when you're going through lots of family junk and debt and all that business. it's just too draining to, effectively, be responsible for getting 2 people where they need to be every minute of every day instead of just one.

on a different note, if a guy has a car that is too tricked out, he's not getting any chance at all. taking care of your shit is good.. but some of this crap, it's like.. come on. buy something worthwhile.. something you aren't going to wreck within the next 6 months while illegally racing down the bypass. plus, it seems like a lot of those guys have ego problems. the ones around here anyway. they think they're sooo fuckin bad.. you can see it in the way they lean up against their cars while tailgating in random places around town with their fellow badass tailgaters. (fender lizards.) its just too.. fonz.

I will be fixing my car and gettign my licence back ASAP. I pretty much live to drive and not being able to is a huge stress. That plus school is really starting to overload me. Thank god for break. If I can find a doctor who can get the seizures dignosed and treated, chances are I can get my license back early.

I cant stand ricers who bolt on those park bench style spoilers. I am definately not a street racer. I drive fast when nobody else is around, but when I get close to traffic I slow down and I'm courteous. The last thing I want is to freak someone out and have them run into me. That probablt comes from having done all the work on my car myself.

I prefer to date guys who have better cars than mine. I've sunk so much time and money into my Datsun (280z) that I need to date a guy who understands my love for my car. It has actually been a deal breaker before because I feel that a guy who doesn't take care of his car is probably slacking off in other areas of his life. By the same token, it doesn't always have to be a good car, but well kept (mechanically), and can't have stuff falling off of the body. smile

Nice car, I love the old Datsuns/Nissans. I feel the same way about my 7. Got any pics?

Well, my license was revoked for 9 months because I had a seizure while driving. This is what wrecked the car. I live about 5 miles from her and about 20 miles from the restaraunt. Its a very nice restaraunt though and she seems to like to drive, so maybe my chances are good.

Is your license permanently revoked? I was told it was a 6 month thing, but I guess it depends on the state laws.

(Edit: n/m, I see above that you're looking for a better doctor)

It is base on the state. How it has been explained to me is that technically, Colorado has no laws against me driving. I still have my license, I could drive if I really wanted too. But since I know about the seizures and the doctors have advised me not to drive and I chose to drive anyway, if something happened while I was driving, it would be a malicious, premeditated act. No fun at all. frown
The doctors have told me if there is no change in my diagnosis, then it is a minimum of 9 months seizure-free on my current perscription for them to sign off on me being safe to drive.

It's not a deal breaker, but over time it can be annoying. I once dated a guy who didn't drive because he was afraid to learn even though he never, ever drank and could have helped all of his friends stay safe by learning to be the designated. Even he said so and he'd still never learn. So essentially it wasn't about the driving, it was the sissy/selfish factor that made it so irritating.

That's funny- I sold my car so I could drink more.

Oooh
The machine of a dream, such a clean machine
With the pistons a pumpin', and the hubcaps all gleam
When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
With my hand on your grease gun
Mmm it's like a disease son
I'm in love with my car, gotta feel for my automobile
Get a grip on my boy racer rollbar
Such a thrill when your radials squeal

Told my girl I'll have to forget her
Rather buy me a new carburettor
So she made tracks saying this is the end now
Cars don't talk back they're just four wheeled friends now

When I'm holding your wheel
All I hear is your gear
When I'm cruisin' in overdrive
Don't have to listen to no run of the mill talk jive

I'm in love with my car (love with my car), gotta feel for my automobile
I'm in love with my car (love with my car), string back gloves in my automolove

I abandoned my car in New Egypt, NJ, aka Bumfuck.

I was headed from Baltimore to Asbury Park, NJ to see Streetlight Manifesto, and my radiotor cracked and my engine lost compression, and some belts broke. It was estimated to cost 3k to fix my truck, which was only worth 1000, so I just junked it.

The next week, my friend introduced me to a really oe girl named Heather, and she lived about 30 minutes away....not having a car ended up biting my ass big time. But most of the time, I dont need a car, because I just date girls on campus.

Now I have no bills (at college), and waste any potential new car mopney on photo gear.

Honestly, to me, the lack of car is would not really be an issue, its the whole "loss of license" thing that would be the stickler for me, depending on why you lost it.

But thats just me.

I just asked the girls here. Same answer.
