I forgot to mention...most of the resaurants today use Tabasco bottles and refill them with crap sauce...If you are basing a dislike for Tabasco on some that you tried in a restaraunt, then I suggest you go buy some and try that...

personally, i usually like a sauce that has a good mix between flavor and heat. i like that slow burn on the back of my throat that builds slowly and dwindles. good indian and thai food has this quality. as for flavor, i like it when the sauce adds something to the food other than just heat. i don't really see the point of getting these insainly melt your mouth hot sauces that you can barely use unless it's to mix with something to give it heat.
as for tabasco at restaurants, i used to steal my beloved mild green tabasco from chipotle, but then they stopped putting it out. there's another mexi place in town that has a really good green sauce that packs quite a bit of heat. don't know the name, but it's imported from mexico.
