I don't ever skateboard, but skater boys are so yummy wink As well as girls too! That's why I love that one set of Six's.

I still skate. I am 25. I skated most of my life except the past few years and I finally just got a skateboard again. I kind of suck now but I was never really that good anyhow. It just feels great to go out on the street and conquer your environment. The world is a playground.

I've skated off and on throughout my life... As I've become older, I've had less time to skate... but it's great fun to dust off my board every once in awhile and take ride down a hill doing power slides all the way down.

I ride at least 3 times a week if not more and I'm gettig up there towards 30. The great thing here in AZ is the large number of public skate parks built or being built plus 2 indoor parks with the big vert ramps in them. Which is great for me being one of the dying bread of skateboarders that still rides vert. I qualified for the amature vert contest at the warped tour here in July, so I get to skate at the warped tour and see the bands for free.

I'm gonna be 29 real soon. I used to be pretty good back in the day (the day was a long time ago). Then I got into motorcycles. Then I got into motorcycle accidents. I'm fully operational again now (I can run, climb, bicycle, all that shit) and I'd kind of like to skate again but I'm not sure that I've got the coordination anymore. Here's the problem; I live in a pretty densely populated area (oakland) and I'm afraid I'm gonna get run over if I try, with my oh-so-rusty skills, to skate around here. I don't really want to go to a skate park 'cause the kids'll make fun of me (I would've made fun of me). So, is there anyone in oaktown that knows someplace that an aging skater can practice without too much danger or scorn?

I tried to learn how to skate about 4 years ago, bought myself a nice deck and hit the streets. Hard.

But I was a trooper and skated in to school every day, very poorly, and probably a bit of an unwelcome addition to traffic.

The University I went to had underground tunnels linking all the buildings , out of necessity, we'd all freeze to death crossing the campus in the winter. Seriously, if youve ever felt -40 with wind chill factor, youd be digging your own tunnels.

anyways, at night, like 2 in the morning, we'd take a bunch of decks up into one of the tunnels that had this big long ramp, it was about 200 feet maybe, and fairly steep - enough to be a bitch when walking up it... and we'd line up at the top, four at a time and lie down on the boards and luge down to the bottom. Punching and pushing were optional.

Thats when I ran over one of my fingers on my writing hand. Blood and fingernail everywhere. messy.

I still get out there occasionally, but I destroyed myself too young. Now I either need to pack it up or start saving up for a wheelchair.

heh, i skate, its one of the few times im actually outside. been at it a couple years when me and some friends bought boards but im the only one still sticking with it.

i really hate (most) professional skating though. seriously, its all kickflip this 360 flip that, and thats cool and all, it takes alot of practice to be/get that good, but its all the same shit. everyone talks about the 'progression' of the sport as if everyone out there is trying to do new innovative tricks instead of refining the same tricks everyone does (which is what happens, esp in street/park skating, vert not so much imo) the stuff mullen has done/created is so ahead of its time its unbeleivable. i mean how badass is to do a slide on the board while its upside down? theres stuff in his early videos you cant even put names to. however, some pro's, like ed templeton, chet thomas,, and even koston doing original refreshing tricks are the ones 'progressing' the sport. bah, i could go on forever

as for me, i'm not that good, but (as you mi ght guess) im more interested in trying the stuff that is outside of normal skater-vision

(btw, hi. im ray, im n00 here smile )

What university was that? I want to go to a school with underground tunnels!
