I think vampires are really neat. Like really, really neat. I was just wondering if anybody else out there thought vampires were as beautiful and fabulous as I did.

i have always loved the idea of vampires. i wouldn't want said vampire to suck my blood and kill me, but i've been pretty fascinated by vampires since i was a little girl... let's not forget witches.

but, the books, oh the books are a special treat for any vampire lover.
ps...i'm not all that goth either, it's not a prerequisite for vampire obsession smile

i should be a vampire. i go to bed as the sun comes up. i wake up after it's gone down. It's hard for me to even walk in the sunlight. I don't mind the taste of blood although I couldn't imagine guzzling the shit down. and yes, I can verify that crosses don't do anything to you, or garlic or holy water. I imagine a stake through the chest would do just about anyone harm.

Man, with all the nerd threads around here I thought you were talking about the white wolf game. sheeat.

I so love vampires and it makes me feel all dorky. I even have custom fangs... but it isn't really the blood drinking that facinates me (though it's way rad) it's the whole living forever with a super good memory part. I would probably kill to have something like that...

can someone explain custm fangs to me?

I am interested in having some made, but know nothing about them. Living in small town NZ doesnt present too many opportunities to buy these things.

Also wasnt there 9 vampire chronociles? (i only read 3)

nofutcha...
there are five in the vampire chronicles. these center around lestat. they are:
interview w/ the vampire
the vampire lestat
the queen of the damned
the tale of the body thief
and memnoch the devil

then she began a series called the new tales of the vampires which revolve around the stories of all the vampires you've met through the course of the first five, pandora, armand, etc. these are super good too! girl just knows how to write a vampire novel!

I've always heard such good things about her, but Anne Rice is SOOOO fucking verbose ... you have to trudge through all of the shit just to get to the story.

I can't even read her ...

I have a very close friend that is so fascinated with vampires and Dracula. She is a professional ballet dancer and Directed/ Choreographed/starred in a production of Dracula. I went to go see it at it was VERY good. My first ballet too. It wasnt your typical ballet though.

I have always connected to vampires myself. I am not a big reader and havent read the Anne Rice books but I know a bit about them. i have always felt that I might have some "vampire" ancestry actually, Some of the traits of the vampire are in a small way a part of my persona. I tell my friends that and they all get a little creaped out casue they can see it in me as well.

I love vampire mythology, too... along with werewolves, and ghosts, and necromancy. I can't really define why, but I just find them fascinating. I'm currently in the middle of Interview, but it's being cruelly interrupted by English assignments. Grr.

And yes, I'm an out-of-the-closet nerd, and I'm not afraid to say I have the White Wolf vampire game. wink

Unfortunately, I've been less than impressed with Vampires since the last Portland hook-up.

Granted, only maybe a dozen people here will know what I'm talking about, but...

Big Vampire aficionado here (No surprize lol) and have been since I was about 8, although the Joss Whedon 'take' on vampirism involving demons inhabiting corpses is hardly my favorite... I think the best vampires commited to film are from the Blade movies. I love the Vampire Chronicles novels and Interview With the Vampire, but I was seriously dissapointed by Queen of the Damned as it just butchered the original novels completely.

I don't read anne rice, or I should sayI haven't read her (except I got tricked into reading the claiming of sleeping beauty once); but I love vampires, the classy victorian, elegant, intelligent, charming and mysterious ones. Vampire Hunter D:Bloodlust would be a good example
BUT NOT THE FIRST ONE. I'm not terribly big on Bela Lugosi or B-movie vampires.

Vampire culture is just so intriging though. It's goth, and it's class.
