Every decade that Dave Gibbons has worked in the field of comics he has had a great influence on the industry. In the 1970s he was a seminal artist for 2000 AD with co-creating Rogue Trooper with Gerry Finley-Day. He is most famous for drawing and co-creating Watchmen with Alan Moore in the mid-80s and in the 90s he teamed up with Frank Miller for Martha Washington.
Now in his fourth decade in comics Gibbons has written, drawn and designed the most personal book of his career, The Originals.
Gibbons has always been one of my favorite creators - he wrote and did some illustrations for a great Hellblazer story a few years ago. The Originals is at the top of my to-read list.
I'm probably being a schmuck but before this interview posted The Originals was ranked at something like 84,000 on Amazon's book list and now it's at 23,000 something.
