I've been told that giving a girl your number is a biiiiiig no no.

I don't know about most other girls.. I don't remember ever discussing this with my girl friends.. but I'd rather a guy give me his number than ask me for mine. Maybe I'm just weird.. but I like that better. As long as it's not done in a cocky "here's my card" kind of way.

Yeah exactly. I don't want my number floating out there. Definitely not in a cocky way. And I'm not saying you walk up to some random girl on the street and give her your number. But if you're chatting to someone and want to talk to them again, it's much easier to say yes to accepting a number than to say yes to giving out your number.

Who says anything ever has to be a no no? Does someone tell you how many times you should let the phone ring before you answer it too???

And the offer to 'maybe i'll see you there' is almost as cliche as 'i never do this'.

What a bourgious group you people are! Break the rules! When i ask someone out point blank i never make excuses for why i do it. I never explain myself. And if they ask, i tell them its because i like them, find them interesting, whatever the case may be.

Why play little games!!! Just go after what you want!!!

I hear you fruit. I rarely ever ask girls for numbers. Matter of fact i've only done it three times in my whole life. And I will say that all three times i didn't follow a set of rules. I was just honest and said whatever came out of my mouth. If i feel it necessary to give my number out i will. I always like to hear other peoples opinions on the antics of relations. But, above all, i listen to myself. wink

Yeah, but if I ask the cute vintage clothing store girl out and she turns me down, I could never go in there again. She's one of only three employees! Where will I get my sassy pink shirts??!?!!?

if you like a girl in a store, make efforts to go back. Become a semi regular customer... go back and start friendly conversation with "remember me?" kind of things.

truth be told most girls don't like it when random guys ask us our. period. not at our jobs. not at a bar. please make effort to get to know us first.

That's interesting to me. I guess one would just hope the person getting asked takes it as a compliment. And also, how you ask matters, right? If you just ask a girl out for coffee or something, that's all about getting to know her, as opposed to coming on strong, asking her out on some elaborate date, etc.

Even if you date her you'll eventually have to shop somewhere else. You'll inevitably say something stupid (or bang her sister) and have to part ways.

If you played your cards right, you would not be shamed out of shopping at all. If the signals are partly there from her, then just go for it. And if she shoots you down, who cares. Continue shopping, smile, be nice, and leave her alone after that. If she is the kind of chick who will titter and be an idoit with her co-workers while you're there you probably want nothing to do with her or her store anyway.
