Tutankhamen's funeral artifacts will tour the United States, but will bypass the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York because "of a disagreement" about money. The last time the artifacts were in the United States was in 1979 under the Met's sponsorship, but has not left Egypt since an artifact was damaged in Germany.

[Zahi Hawass, the head of Egyptian antiquities,] said he was negotiating to take the exhibit to Boston, Philadelphia and the Brooklyn Museum, but hoped it would be shown in Manhattan.

Mr. Hawass said a major reason Egypt had decided on the exhibit was to raise money for its crumbling antiquities: the Pyramids, the Sphinx and the priceless statuary and treasures in the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.

In addition, the Egyptian culture minister would like to raise enough money for a half-billion dollar museum.

The tour will begin in Los Angeles in June.

With any luck, maybe Korn'll cover Steve Martin's "King Tut" to cash in on this little tour.

Glad to see it coming back to where Jesus invented it.
