Thats right. He lost. I didnt even know he was still winning. 2.5 million.... thats goin in the record books. Must have been tiring though being in the audience.... I meen.. "Ah man... he won again.... well fuck!"

NEW YORK _ Ken Jennings' (search) incredible winning streak on "Jeopardy" (search) apparently comes to an end on Tuesday night's show.

Reports have been circulating that the 30-year-old software engineer from Salt Lake City would lose after 74 wins -- and earnings of $2.5 million. Monday night was Jennings' 74th win. So far, he was won just over $2.5 million.

And Monday, according to The Washington Post, an audio clip popped up on the Internet that seemed to include the sounds of Jennings losing Tuesday night.

Jennings was leading going into Final Jeopardy. But, according to the audio clip, he didn't know the correct answer to this question in the category of business and industry: "Most of this firm's 70,000 seasonal white-collar employees work only four months a year."

The correct answer is, "H&R Block."

Jennings' winning streak began on June 2. He was able to take advantage of the elimination of a longtime rule that said a champion must leave after five straight wins. Now they can stay on until they lose.

I think you mean sarcasm. To qualify as satire, it must contain wit.

Jeopardy tapes multiple shows at once. The show that will air tonight would have been recorded long before now so it is possible that something has been leaked.

Either way... who cares?

the thing i'm curious about is i'm not sure why that 5-wins rule existed in the first place? this guy's pulled in more eyeballs than the show's had in years i'm assuming.

it seems like common sense to let them keep going and build up the suspense, just like powerball or the tables at vegas or anything else vaguely risk/gambling oriented. was there a gameshow based law limiting prizes that was lifted to allow that, or is someone just kicking themselves for not thinking of it sooner?

I realize that they're taped well in advance. They've also been supremely protective about giving out the date of the airing of the episode in which he loses.

What "and"? You followed up the original post by saying he was crying over winning 2+ million dollars, which was never referenced in the article.

Were you being sarcastic, I guess? And I'm supposed to know this how?
