What is your opinion of the FOX tv show, The Swan? I think it is the most fucked up idea for a show, it makes me sick to think that america sits at home on monday night and watches a reality show based on and around plastic surgery. You get the idea, go!

I think it's extra evil because the women on this show are extremely sensitive about their appearance anyway, so they get tons of plastic surgery and then enter them in a beauty pageant. The pageant aspect kind of puts it over the edge for me.

We're this close to "Running Man" being on a fall schedule, ladies and gentlemen.

Fox never ceases to amaze me with the lengths they will go to shock people into watching TV.

I think whats even better is all these girls get made over, then get stuck in some stupid pagent, WHICH ONLY ONE WINS.

So all the girls but one going home feeling like losers anyway.

Way to go FOX, you have once again restored my faith in your network whatever

I was watching it lastnight at the gym because the little gym bunnies had it on. One of the ladies was served her divorce papers while she was in recovery. I felt creepy and sad watching this woman's marriage crumble, watching her cry and her heart break... I can't believe that people find that entertaining.

It's so sad that people feel so uncomfortable in their skin that they're willing to change their entire face and body to feel better. I mean, everyone has something they don't like about themselves, but to hate yourself so much that you want to completely change the way you look..... frown

i just started watching it. it's sort of grotesque, like a car wreck that you have to look at when you come across it.

the icing on the nasty swan cake is that each made-over woman looks exactly alike. i don't even understand how they choose winners. it's all some slight variation of big, blonde hair extensions, cleavage and big lips.

It's not even guilty-pleasure entertainment. It's boring and kinda gross.

I hate the Extreme Makeover shows for much the same reason: because they perpetuate the idea that you can fix your life by spending money on it.

Extreme Edition: Home Edition seems especially bad about this. They find a family with a lot of problems, then solve them by giving them a plasma TV! What saints!

I think society has become so fucking pathetic. Everyone has to live vicariously through peopple who are more fucked up than they are on tv. America needs an hobby, or a hug.

if there's one fad I'm waiting for to die, it's this one

unfortunately, since everyone in hollywood is running out of ideas
we get nothing but 1. bad sequels 2. bad remakes of foreing films and 3. reality TV

we're gonna be stuck with this for a LONG LONG time frown

Is'nt that how it's supposed to be? That's my point. People are that naieve. I pitty you (not you jake_lex) if you think that once you get your nose chopped and your boobs ported and polished your problems are solved. It almost sounds as if we're building cars. O.K., in a way I guess we are.

You're right, but what if we can get enough people to boycot the shows that the ratings drop. All i have to say is it's all smoke and mirrors. Does WAG THE DOG ring any bells.

I think it's the worst that TV has to offer.

I think so-called "reality TV" is proof that we're devolving...and the reason we're getting fatter as a society.

I don't watch any of that crap. My TV time is pretty much limited to Law & Order reruns, COPS, The Simpsons & ESPN.

I love COPS, but I think it could be considered reality tv, also.
Not that it's on the same page as the Swan....

I disagree. "Reality" shows put contestants in carefully thought-out situations designed to produce a desired result.

On COPS.....they film cops.

I only watch Cartoon Network, Comedy Central and Telemundo (Prisionera is almost over I think. . ..) lately
(i was watching Simpsons and Seinfeld. . . but they seriously only show the same 15 episodes of them. . . .how many times can you show that shitty finale episode?)

I don't think we'll even be able to get people to boycott reality television
something's gonna hav to go horribly wrong
someone's gonna have to die on live television i'm afraid

the funny thing is i thought that about survivor

i always have the feeling that even if they don't have even remotely the same theme, you just know the rights to the name are already aquired and something's in the works. fox's entire thinktank must watch that movie daily.
