My friend and I are looking into going places for winter break (probably the middle of December-ish), but apparently we suck at coming up with good ideas. We live in New Jersay and would probably be driving rather than flying.

Suggestions or links to helpful websites would be appreciated.

Florida. We get a lot of people from New Jersey down here. They seem to like fireworks too.

Hum, driving? Well, New York City and DC can be fun in the winter. You can avoid a lot of annoying tourists and long lines. I went to DC a few years back during a huge ice storm. I had a blast becasue I didn't mind the cold and most places didn't have lot of people. Get a few people together and rent a cabin for a few days. I like to ski and friends that don't like to go sled riding. I'm from Pittsburgh so I feel your pain. Not much to do in PA during the winter except shovel snow and complain. I've also wondered what Niagra Falls would be like in the winter.

Warm isn't particularly important. Not sure about a price range. We're middle class folks, and all, so nothing too pricey I guess.

I'm going to take a week off of work
to pitch a tent in the middle of the woods, near a lake
while it is snowing. And try to build a fire every night
and try to catch fish every day. All the while going hungry
and cold
and very happy
that I am not at work.
