Did anyone ever see the movie version of the Plague Dogs? I think they only released it on video. That was actually more disturbing then Watership Down.

i see people mentioning the last unicorn, has anyone ever seen the Flight of Dragons? the animation looked strikingly similar to the last unicorn, so i don't know if they were the same production company or whatever, but Flight of Dragons was my FAVORITE cartoon of all time growing up. there's a big ogre that kills a bunch of people that freaked me out, plus the rats that shriek and make people kill themselves....*shudder* i ordered it off of eBay and watched it with my roommates, but they all thought it was lame by today's standards. i still dig it though.

YES! I loved that movie. It was so sad at the end, where he had to give up on magic.

Aaaaaah Watership Down used to scare the pants off me! I remember watching it in class for the first time, at like the end of term, and i was so scared I fell off my seat...and everyone laughed frown At least it lightened the mood eh! biggrin

And THE LAST UNICORN! Oh god! That bit where the skeleton drinks the wine and his eyes start glowing....eeek eeek eeek Jebus Christ. Gave me nightmares for years. I watched it again a few years back, I was more scared of how I'd feel than when i actually saw the bit, but it's still creepy. *shudder*

Yeah, until the kids can't take the torment at school any longer and shoot all their classmates and/or their parents.

If you're going to name your children after literary figures, at least give them normal-ish names... like Roland or Stella, my future children.

Bah. That's like the argument that gay couples shouldn't be able to adopt because the kids will get teased. They're being raised with a sense of security that'll get them through. Once they're past that stupid elementary school stage then their names will become a thing of interest rather than ridicule. Particularly to people who recognize the names.

Plus they're 1/4 Korean, so they look just 'ethnic' enough to get away with oddish names.

it wasn't really a kids' movie, but Clash of the Titans freaked me out as a little kid (and not just because of the bare-chested Harry Hamlin). When the statue's head falls off and all of a sudden the eyes open? And I was genuinely afraid that if I looked at Medusa in the eyes, I'd turn to stone.

I wonder if kids nowadays are scared by the Harry Potter movies or LOTR...

I don't know if someones mentioned this already, but in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, when Willy Wonka takes them on the boat and shows them loads of scary shit! It's a really scary in film anyway on loads of levels

Also in an ill advised use of public relations i heard that Steven Gately (the gay member of Boyzone) has been cast to play the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I thought that was really funny-it shouldbe written in a book of 'what roles not to play if you are gay!'

It wasn't a kid's movie, exactly, but a movie that every single kid aside of myself loved was...Gremlins. That they were freaky is one thing, but I have this memory of a scene where they get into a traffic light and make cars crash... I'm sorry, I still get nightmares. bok
