Jonathan Kesselman is the hysterically funny writer/director behind one of my favorite movies of the year, The Hebrew Hammer. The Hebrew Hammer is a great movie for people of all religions. It stars Adam Goldberg as a Jewish Shaft-type who must battle the evil son of Santa Claus because he wants to destroy Hanukkah. It has just been released on DVD by Comedy Central.
Yesterday, as I was flipping through the cable television channels, I came across the televised program that you are currently starring in, entitled 'Mork and Mindy.' Now usually I don't take the time to write sitcom actors, but I have to tell you that I truly feel that you have something special going on there. Hell, I'll just come out and say it. You've got talent kid!
Anyway, the episode I saw concerned your birthday, and your egg-shaped 'gleek', and Mindy storing your 'gleek' in a carton of eggs. It was hysterical....I'm getting off track here. Sorry. What I'm trying to get at is this. I'm currently in pre-production on a FEATURE FILM project entitled 'The Hebrew Hammer.' Yes, that's right Robin. I am the WRITER and DIRECTOR of this one hour and a half (90 minutes - a full length format) MOTION PICTURE, and I am writing you. Now, I know you're probably busy with your little show (TV can be hectic...I've heard), but I'm writing to see if you might be interested in playing the part of the evil Santa Claus in my movie.
The Hebrew Hammer is a 'Jewxploitation' movie in the vain of 'Superfly' and 'Shaft' that tells the story of Mordechai Jefferson Carver, a Certifed Circumcised Dick who is recruited by the Jewish Defense League (sort of like the Hall of Justice for Jews) to take on an anti-semitic Santa Claus who is hell bent on eradicating Hanukkah. The film is being produced by Ed Pressman, and will begin production in May of this year with Adam Goldberg playing the lead.
Just think. This is your shot at making your first big splash in the MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY. The role requires only 5 days of work, and is a very, very funny part. I don't like to toot my own horn Robin, but this screenplay might very well be the funniest MOTION PICTURE SCREENPLAY ever written!! It could be a huge opportunity for you, possibly launching a career for you in pictures (motion pictures, that is). If any of this sounds interesting to you, perhaps you can pull yourself away from your busy sitcom television schedule to read this full-length script. If nothing else, it might put a smile on your face. Anyway, I need to head off to go and do very important and time consuming FEATURE FILM DIRECTOR stuff. Again, keep up the good work on the 'Mork and Mindy' program, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
