For many, Clive Barker left the genre sometime back in 1995, after having become a powerhouse horror institution. What they don't know is that he never really left. This year, Barker prepares to bring the Books of Blood to celluloid on the 20th anniversary of those infamous works, and that's just the beginning....

You know his name, you know his movies, and you damn well better know his books. Twenty years ago today, Clive Barker redefined horror literature with his infamous Books of Blood; a genre-shattering,...

Yay! This is a great interview... Thanks for the reprint. I think it's great that CB is returning to horror, but I disagree with those that deride his fantasy stuff... "Imajica" is one of my favorite books EVER and "The Great and Secret Show"/"Everville" are a fantastic story as well.

Think they'll make a movie out of "Buggage"? skull

It's well worth it. I just subscribed to get a free copy of Bubba Hotep. The subscription only cost a couple more bucks than I would have spent on the dvd anyway. I thought the magazine would be redundant since there's all kinds of horror websites that have daily updates, but the magazine is great. I'm a little upset that I was to wait until march until the next issue. I'm sure they'll make it worth the wait.

what a wonderful article. im very excited now. midnight meat train is one of my favorite stories and im glad its being done first. even though its not horror, the thief of always has been my favorite book and im sad that it's not going to be made on film now. if they had problems visualizing what it should be i could do that in my sleep!
cold heart canyon is another one of my favorites...its a perfect ghost story and id love to see it made for the cinematography alone.
id love to see tortured souls as well. im sure it will be wonderful.
and boo to anyone who didn't love lord of illusions.
anyways great interview and now im really excited.

Just another reason I'm glad I signed up to this site. I already listed a couple of my favorite books befroe I noticed this interview was here. Mr. Barker is truley my favorite author and am eagerly waitng for the tortured souls movie (I have the whole model collection), and am very interested to see the "Films of Blood". I admire Mr. Barker's imagination, integrity, and straightforwardness. I'll admit I was a bit homophobic up untill I found out that my favorite author was openly gay, which brought me to realize that it's not something you should ignorantly judge people by. By his actions, I realized that people with different prefrences are not different than me, just enjoy other lifestyles, which made me more accepting of different people.
Thank you for the excellent interview, good to see the master author return.
This guy is pure genius.
