Ten tons of black-market Legos were destroyed in Finland following a raid by Finnish customs when they were intercepted on their way to Russia.

The bricks were crushed on Thursday and will be burned later to produce energy for the southern Finnish town of Lahti, the customs officer said. Scandinavian environmentalists shouldn't worry: no toxins were found in the toys.

The price of Lego (aka “the Brick” or “the Peggy”) skyrocketed as Lego hustlers adapted to the growing scarcity of the toy.

Why isn't the U.S. using clean-burning plastic for energy? Don't we have more of it than the rest of the world combined?

Oh, the title made me think they were heroin legos. Was going to say, that was just about the coolest toy I ever heard of; get stoned on junk and then mindlessly build shit with legos. What could be cooler then that?

But burning black market legos? What the fuck? Talk about government employees with nothing better to do

Isn't this like buying black-market army men? Like those plastic ones that have fixed poses and come in bags of 100? Why are there "black-market" Legos, anyway?

Does this mean I can smuggle my collection of honest to goodness actual Legos to Russia and make enough to retire on?

Legos are so good to make heat. We were so poor when I was a kid. I got legos for christmas and we burned them for heat, then ate what was leftover.

Legos are the best thing to get a poor person during winter.

Weird that they were going to Russia and not coming from Russia.

It's a shame that these useful toys aren't going to be donated to mentally disabled children in Russian homes. frown frown

This would have given Lego(TM) some good publicity.
