Okay, as some of you know, I'm a proofreader for a dot com. Our company takes advertisements and catalogs you'd get in the mail and puts them on the good ol' interweb. Today for the past six hours, I've had to proofread the piece of shit known as Fingerhut. My question to you, good folk of SG, is this-

Does anyone really buy this crap?

If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out their stuff here- http://www.fingerhut.com - see how expensive this stuff is?! Who would purchase such a thing? How are these guys still in business?

I think I used to get this in the mail.

I really used it for window shopping, then if there was something cool I saw, you go someplace else to buy it. It's great for when you're on the can.

i think fingerhut is a source for a particular type of person. the type who doesn't mind buying overpriced, low quality crap as long as they don't have to lift a finger in looking for it.

No, but the "Trim the Home" category sounds intriguing.

Fingerhut's secret is that they give absolutely anyone credit. I think their sales have levelled off since just about anyone will give anyone credit these days. But I had relatives who really got into Fingerhut for that reason. A cousin of mine actually said, "Well, other catalogs expect you to pay for what you buy right then." puke

Try looking at each and every item in one of their catalogs for six hours on end.

i bought an entertainment center from them mail order five years ago. it was realyl cheap $225, its a weird spidery like thing. i like it but evweryone i know hates

then fingerhut sent me a free gift a tiny ceramic box with a bear on it. it was big enough to hold about two marbles.

then the catalogs started, two regular ones every week, then every two weeks a massive tome. it was very frustrating. i emailed many times and got ignored. for a few months i called at least once a week asking them to stop. finally i got fed up after about 10 months in then called up and threatened to report them to the federal government, obviously the ones who run the PO, for harassment if they didn't stop. They said sir we promise we will never send you a catalog ever BUT there might already be one in the mail to you so after that one thats it.

it finally stopped.

Yeah, if you get on their mailing list, you''re usually on it forever. They even drop catalogs on your grave, just in case you rise as a zombie and you want to buy some overpriced crap.
