[Edited on Nov 21, 2004 by EnfantTerrible]

What is an indian taco anyways?

It is kind of a taco salad piled on top of indian fry bread. In most cases there is also beans or refried beans added to all the toppings you would normally find in a regular taco. You have to eat it with a fork. I really love good ones, but the ones you find in most restraunts are yucky.

I have never seen them in resteraunts here but they are a staple of various native american celebrations here. Along with Venison stew. Yummmm

We also have a lot of great East Indian food here. In fact for a city our size I dont think anywhere has a wider variety or better quality ethnic resteraunts. Especially Korean food. The best food I have had anywhere is in a little hole in the wall korean resteraunt here called Korea House. So good.

interestingly, much of paru's menu is not as hot as i have had elsewhere. i'm not sure why. some things, to be sure, are quite spicy. overall, though she could probably handle it. you should go sometime and ask kannan what would be good for someone who's not into the hotness. he always has suggestions.

I totally love this guy and I've never eaten his food!

if you go there once and talk to him a little, he will remember you every time afterwards.

this is true! he even still asks me about my friend who moved overseas a few years ago!

i absolutely love paru's.

chicken tikka masala is the national dish of England. I like curry because they have lots of vegetarian options.

While we're mentioning restaurants, Plainfield's Mayur in Portland, OR is WONDERFULL!)*$%&*@#&%

Better than swagat's?

If Swagat's is the best Indian food you've had in Portland then you have much to look forward to, Grasshopper... wink

I second the recommendation for Plainfield's. Also good are India House on 30th & East Burnside, India Grill downtown (on Morrison I think?), and Abhiruchi on 185th if you have the misfortune to be in Beaverton. My favorite is Bombay Cricket Club on 20th & Hawthorne... get the tandoori chicken... mmm, just typing that is making my mouth water.

Two words:

TANDOORI TURKEY.

Masala of India (Seattle) does a Thanksgiving buffet every year... my parents are going to be out of town so my bf and I decided to go. I can't remember everything that was on the menu but some of it is the usual lamb korma/aloo chana/saag paneer deal, some of it is Indian twists on regular Thanksgiving things.

Yum. I'll have to go find the menu now...
